In Pokémon GO the big GO Fest 2022 will take place in a few days. To ensure you are well prepared for these two event days, we have summarized 6 important tips for you below that you should consider before the event.
When does the GO Fest take place? The GO Fest 2022 runs on June 4th and 5th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. However, if you want to take advantage of all the event’s content, you will need an event ticket, which you can purchase in the in-game shop. This costs a one-time fee of about 17 euros, depending on the shop.
6 preparations you should make before the GO Fest 2022
The GO Fest 2022 is already around the corner and will bring you numerous spawns and raids. To ensure you are well-prepared for the event, we have summarized 6 useful tips below that you should use before the event starts.
1. Make space for important items
Throughout the GO Fest, you will have the opportunity to encounter numerous Pokémon. Especially Milza is likely of great interest to most trainers. For this reason, you should have enough items with you to ensure it doesn’t get away. Therefore, make sure to create space for the most important items in your item bag now.
In addition to balls needed for catching, you should also think about the following items:
- Premium Raid Passes
- Remote Raid Passes
- Max Revives
- Max Potions
- Golden Raspberries
- Silver Raspberries
- Raspberries
- Smoke
Raid Passes: If you are playing the GO Fest with a ticket, you will receive up to 9 free raid passes each day that you can use on-site. However, if you want to secure a shiny Milza or one of the legendary creatures, you should definitely also secure one or more (remote) raid passes.
Berries: For catching, golden Raspberries, silver Raspberries, or normal Raspberries are also suitable depending on the Pokémon. These help ensure that the monsters stay in the balls better, and with the (silver) Raspberries, you also receive double the amount of candy.
Revives, Potions, and Smoke: To revive your best attackers in Pokémon GO, it is also advisable to have enough Max Revives and Max Potions. In the wild, you can attract additional monsters with the help of smoke. You do not need any other items for this event and you can sort them out generously.
2. Collect Poké Balls
Of course, you will need a lot of balls for catching on the two event days. The event lasts a total of 16 hours. Especially on Saturday, June 4th, you will encounter numerous wild Pokémon during the four different habitat hours.
If you want to play the full time, you should save at least a supply of 1,000 balls. Especially the Ultra Balls are particularly important to make it a bit easier to catch monsters with high CP.
During the event, you should regularly refresh your ball supply. However, pay attention to the global challenge. In the past, there have been tasks where a certain number of gifts needed to be opened.
How to get balls: The easiest way to get balls is by regularly spinning the photo disks of PokéStops and Gyms. But you can also secure balls by opening gifts. It makes sense to use the days leading up to the event to check daily for gifts. You can find more ways to farm balls in our related article:
By the way: In the week from May 30, 2022 to June 6, 2022, you will also receive in the event box for one PokéCoin 20 Poké Balls, 10 Ultra Balls, 5 Raspberries, and 3 Knursp. This box also gives you the chance to collect balls.
3. Sort Pokémon
The same as for your item bag applies to your Pokémon storage. If you want to catch a lot of monsters during the GO Fest, you should sort thoroughly before the event starts. This way, you won’t have to use precious event time sorting your monsters.
For this, it is best to use the search function in the game. By entering “0*, 1*, 2*”, which is already suggested in the app, you can sort the monsters by their strength. This will only show you Pokémon with a maximum of 2 stars.
If you want to sort and release Pokémon during the event, you can additionally add the criterion “Age0” to your search function. This will only show you monsters that you have received in the last day.
If you want to make the most of the event time, you should have at least 500 free slots in your Pokémon storage for the first hours.
4. Check equipment and refreshments
Especially for trainers who will be out all day, it is important to check the equipment in advance. In addition to a fully charged smartphone, you should definitely have an extra power bank and a charging cable with you. Don’t forget to properly charge your power bank in advance to avoid running out of battery on the way.
During the GO Fest weekend, it is expected to be quite warm in many parts of Germany. So bring enough drinks with you and remember to bring something to eat. This way, you won’t have to organize anything on the go.
5. Plan your route
To catch as many Pokémon as possible, you should ideally move around. This way, the smoke will be much more effective. To avoid wandering aimlessly, it’s best to think about a route in advance.
Make sure that you pass by enough PokéStops and Gyms along the way to spin for new items. But these points are also important to participate in raids or to encounter additional Pokémon.
Additionally, it’s best to pick a place you are already familiar with. This way, you won’t waste time orienting yourself when you arrive.
6. Arrange for raids
On Saturday and Sunday, there will again be some interesting raid bosses. In addition to the legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon, which can be found in Level 5 raids on Saturday, and Milza, against which you can challenge in Level 1 raids on both days, there will be another raid boss on Sunday.
Which one that will be is not officially known yet. However, Niantic shows in their current trailer for the GO Fest the Ultra Beast Anego, which is a completely new type of monster. So it’s possible that you can encounter this specimen for the first time on Sunday.
Especially the raids against the legendary Pokémon are hardly manageable alone, so you should arrange with friends in advance. So think about which raids you want to do together. Alternatively, you can invite other players with the help of remote raids or participate in raids in other parts of the world.
To defeat the Pokémon as quickly as possible, it’s also advisable to rely on the best counters. So also check in advance which monsters you have and power them up if necessary or swap the corresponding attack. This way, you can start your raids at the GO Fest without extensive preparation.
