It’s worth playing Pokémon GO on the weekend, because: you can secure some useful monsters and bonuses.
What’s happening this weekend? On April 6th and 7th, it might be worth planning a Pokémon GO walk or two, at least if the weather cooperates and is somewhat friendly.
Because: Several events are happening this weekend, bringing along some cool monsters. You should grab them if you have the chance.
Here you’ll find everything interesting at a glance in the overview.
What’s happening this weekend in Pokémon GO?
There are five things you should do or pay attention to this weekend.
Catch Katagami

Since April 9th, Katagami can be caught in raids in the Northern Hemisphere, including here. It will stay until April 12th, so catching it this weekend is a good idea. Because: You shouldn’t miss out on Katagami, the Ultra Beast is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO overall. In fact, Katagami is even the strongest Grass-type attacker, aside from Mega Sceptile.
Kaguron is still in raids, but only in the Southern Hemisphere. For the Ultra Beast, you would need to use a remote raid and be invited accordingly. However, Kaguron is noticeably less useful than Katagami.
The best counters against Katagami can be found here.
Crypto Raids with Entei

This weekend, you can also take on the 5-star Crypto Raids, where you will encounter Entei. It appears on Saturday and Sunday. The monster is not easy to defeat, so team up with multiple trainers and bring plenty of revives, otherwise the raid is hardly doable.
As a reward, you get one of the top Fire attackers, which is a strong counter against Katagami.
Community Day Classic with Kindwurm

On Sunday, April 7th, the C-Day Classic will take place featuring the Dragon Pokémon Kindwurm. If you don’t have one yet or are looking for a stronger specimen, you should mark this date. Because: Brutalanda is one of the top attackers in the game, especially in the Dragon category.
If you already have a good Brutalanda, you can still secure a better specimen or the necessary candies for leveling. Additionally, the shiny chance is greatly increased, and you will earn triple catch XP.
The guide to the Community Day Classic with Kindwurm can be found here.
Collect Twitch Code for Research
This weekend, the Pokémon European Championship is also taking place in London. In connection with this, there are Twitch streams where you can receive a code as a Twitch drop that gives you a research task with six PvP Pokémon.
You can find all the information here: How to get the free research for Pokémon GO on Twitch.
Appropriate Surprises
to take advantage of
The event ‘Appropriate Surprises’ runs only until April 9, 2024. This weekend, you have a good opportunity to make use of the event bonuses.
What’s particularly exciting is that you have an increased chance for XXS and XXL Pokémon. This could be interesting for future showcases, where the size value is often decisive. Additionally, during this time, there is:
- An increased shiny chance for Wailmer
- Double XP when catching (except when the C-Day with Kindwurm is active. In that case, the triple XP counts.)
After that, it continues directly with scheduled events in the game. You can find our overview here: All events in April 2024 in Pokémon GO.
