In Pokémon GO, 5 special Pokémon are waiting for you in May that you shouldn’t miss. We at MeinMMO will show you which ones they are and how you can secure them.
Which Pokémon are involved? There’s a lot happening in Pokémon GO in May. You can not only finally secure another Master Ball through a Masterwork Research, but also new special monsters. In addition to four Ultra Beasts, a mysterious Pokémon will also make its debut in the game. We will briefly introduce you to the five monsters below and explain how you can secure them in just a few days.
1. Agoyon
What kind of Pokémon is this? Agoyon is an Ultra Beast of the Poison and Dragon types. It comes from the 7th generation of games and has a pre-evolution named Venicro. You can recognize the monster by its purple body and silver spikes on its wide, oval underside. Its upper body, on the other hand, is significantly narrower and has two bat-like wings.
How can you obtain Agoyon? Agoyon will make its debut in Pokémon GO on May 23, 2024, with the start of the event Ultradimensions-Wonder
. During this event, you can evolve Venicro, Agoyon’s pre-evolution, into Agoyon by using 200 Venicro candies and catching 20 Dragon-type Pokémon while it is your buddy.
Venicro has been available since the beginning of the current season in the special research World full of Wonders. You will also receive the necessary candies from this research.

2. Muramura
What kind of Pokémon is this? Muramura is another Ultra Beast from the 7th generation. The Rock and Steel-type Pokémon has no pre-evolutions or evolutions. Visually, the monster resembles a large, gray, cubical wall on four legs made of stones. The various eyes on its body indicate that the monster consists of several smaller creatures that have formed into one large being.
How can you obtain Muramura? Just like Agoyon, Muramura will celebrate its Pokémon GO debut at the event Ultradimensions-Wonder
. It will be found in level 5 raids in the eastern hemisphere during this time, so you can encounter the Ultra Beast in raids here in Germany.
3. Kopplosio
What kind of Pokémon is this? Kopplosio is an Ultra Beast of the Fire and Ghost types from the 7th generation. It has no pre-evolutions or evolutions. Its body resembles that of a human, moving on two legs. The colorful outfit resembles a clown. It additionally has a round, colorful ball for a head that it can cause to explode. For this reason, it is also called the Fireworks Pokémon.
How can you obtain Kopplosio? Kopplosio will also debut during the event Ultradimensions-Wonder
. It will be featured in level 5 raids in the western hemisphere and can therefore be found from west of England to America. To secure it, you can get invited to corresponding remote raids from trainers in these regions.
4. Necrozma
What kind of Pokémon is this? Another Ultra Beast making its debut in May is Necrozma. The Psychic-type Pokémon comes from the 7th generation and also has no pre-evolutions or evolutions. However, it can access three additional forms besides its normal form.
Two of these are Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings, which Necrozma gets by fusing with Solgaleo and Lunala. These will also be available in-game starting in May. However, according to current information, its Ultra Form will not be part of Pokémon GO.
You can recognize Necrozma by its large black body and sharp claws. In its Dusk Mane form, it takes on Solgaleo’s golden mane and body structure. In its Dawn Wings form, it resembles a light blue variant of Lunala.
Here we give you a preview of how powerful Necrozma will become.
How can you obtain Necrozma? Necrozma will debut at the GO Fest in Sendai (Japan) on May 30. It will be found in level 5 raids and can therefore also be earned through remote raids.
To secure the Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings forms, however, Solar and Lunar Fusion Energy will be required. This can be obtained by participants of the live GO Fest events through special research. This allows them to fuse Necrozma with Solgaleo or Lunala, thus accessing the two forms.
Those without a ticket for one of the events in Sendai, Madrid, or New York just need to show a little patience. At the global GO Fest on July 13 and 14, 2024, there will also be a chance to secure the needed fusion energy here. And Necrozma in its normal form will also be part of the event and can be defeated in raids.
5. Marshadow
What kind of Pokémon is this? Another highlight in May is the release of the mysterious Pokémon Marshadow. The Fighting and Ghost-type Pokémon from the 7th generation also has no pre-evolutions or evolutions. You can recognize it by its small, human-like body, which is gray to black in color. Its large red-yellow eyes are particularly striking.
How can you obtain Marshadow? Marshadow is also part of the GO Fest 2024. Those with a ticket for one of the live events in Sendai, Madrid, or New York can already obtain it there through special research. Unlike Necrozma, it cannot simply be caught remotely.
So, those without a ticket for the mentioned live events can alternatively buy a ticket for the global GO Fest in July. There, ticket holders will also have another chance to encounter it.
Are there any other interesting monsters in May? Yes, if you haven’t had an encounter with the mysterious Pokémon Diancie in the past, you can do so for free right now.
