We’ve taken a peek into the crystal ball and present to you 5 monsters that could appear as a raid boss for Halloween.
5 Raid Bosses that Fit Halloween
What is taken into consideration here? In recent years, there have been special raid bosses on Halloween. They were always of the Ghost or Dark type. This is fitting, as creepy Pokémon also appeared otherwise.
This is what we’ve also considered in the outlook. You will find older monsters here, but also Pokémon that have never existed before.
Giratina
What speaks for it? Giratina has previously appeared as a legendary raid boss for Halloween. In 2018, the altered form of Giratina first appeared in legendary raids. A return would be conceivable.
Additionally, the altered form can also be Shiny. It would thus be an interesting Pokémon for Shiny hunters.
What speaks against it? Starting Friday, we will find the original form of Giratina in raids. It is the better form for raids and gym battles and is more popular among many trainers. While experiencing a highlight already before Halloween, there would then be the “worse” form for Halloween.
It is also questionable whether Niantic would then release both Giratina forms consecutively.
Darkrai
What speaks for it? Darkrai first appeared in raids for Halloween in 2019. The monster was the first mysterious Pokémon in Level 5 raids at that time. It could make its comeback this Halloween.
Additionally, it can now be Shiny and was last seen at the end of April in Level 5 raids. A comeback is therefore easily possible this time.
What speaks against it? Here, too, Niantic would just be rehashing old content. Many players already have Shiny Darkrai, and some trainers expect a new raid boss for Halloween.
Darkrai would thus not fit into this role. If Niantic really aims for something new, Darkrai would be out.
Arceus
What speaks for it? Arceus is a mysterious Pokémon from the 4th generation and has not been in the game yet. Therefore, it would be a completely new Pokémon.
Additionally, Arceus can assume the Ghost or Dark types. It could thus be introduced as a “creepy” Pokémon for Halloween.
What speaks against it? Arceus is not inherently a suitable Pokémon for Halloween. While it can assume the Ghost and Dark types, it can also take on other types. If one is searching for a creepy Pokémon, Arceus might not be the right choice.
Yveltal
What speaks for it? Yveltal could be the first legendary Pokémon from the 6th generation. It is of the Dark and Flying types. According to the Pokémon story, Yveltal drains the energy from other living beings – that sounds creepy and thus perfect for Halloween.
Additionally, Niantic announced Gen 6 last summer, but nothing has happened yet. Halloween has always brought new Ghost and Dark Pokémon into the game over the last years. Yveltal would thus fit perfectly.
What speaks against it? After all, it is a new Pokémon, and one must always wonder whether Niantic truly plans to release Gen 6 so soon. After all, there are still missing Pokémon from Gen 5. They would effectively be skipped.
Hoopa
What speaks for it? Hoopa is a similar case to Darkrai in 2019. It is a mysterious Pokémon of the Ghost and Psychic types and is from the 6th generation. This year, a mysterious boss could again be introduced for Halloween – as it worked well with Darkrai.
Moreover, it seems to fit the type best. Ghost Pokémon are the heart of the Halloween event. Hoopa would fit perfectly.
What speaks against it? So far, only Darkrai has been a mysterious Pokémon directly in the raids. Deoxys, for example, appeared months earlier as an EX raid boss, and other mysterious Pokémon were only available through special research.
For Hoopa, Niantic would again have to make an exception. It remains questionable whether that will actually happen.
