In Pokémon GO there is a strong bonus for friendships in the current season. You can use that for leveling up.
This is what’s happening in Pokémon GO: The new season Plenty of Adventure
has begun and comes with some bonuses. One bonus that some might not even be aware of is that the friendship level now gives you even more XP.
In any case, increasing friendship levels is one of the best ways to get a lot of XP in Pokémon GO and level up quickly. But with the bonus, it’s even stronger.
Here are the numbers so far: Before the current season and thus without the bonus, there were the following amounts of XP:
- New Friend: 1,000 XP
- Good Friends: 3,000 XP
- Super Friends: 10,000 XP
- Hyper Friends: 50,000 XP
- Best Friends: 100,000 XP
This is what the bonus brings now: With the new XP bonus, there are now the following amounts of XP (via leekduck.com):
- New Friend: 1,500 XP
- Good Friends: 4,500 XP
- Super Friends: 15,000 XP
- Hyper Friends: 75,000 XP
- Best Friends: 150,000 XP
So there is now one and a half times as much XP as before, which is already a very good value. But how do you now get the 300,000 XP for best friends?
300,000 XP with the right timing and lucky egg
You need to keep this in mind: It is easy to get tempted to simply open and send gifts in Pokémon GO without paying much attention to the friendship level, as it increases steadily that way.
However, especially when it comes to Hyper Friends
and Best Friends
, it can be very worthwhile to keep an eye on it. The friendship level jumps up the moment you register the last interaction with one of your friends.
Interactions include sending and opening gifts as well as battling in raids or even trading. Per day, the game counts one interaction with friends for increasing your friendship level – no more.
- After 1 day of interaction, you become “Good Friends”
- After 7 days of interaction, you become “Super Friends”
- After 30 days of interaction, you become “Hyper Friends”
- After 90 days of interaction, you become “Best Friends”
If you click on the hearts in the friendship screen, you can see exactly how many interactions are still needed for your friendship level with a trainer to increase.
Additionally, you can recognize by a slight shimmer around the trainer’s image in your friends list whether you have already had an interaction with that trainer:
This is how you get the 300,000 XP: You can use this information to time a level-up precisely. This is especially worthwhile when you have friends with whom you rise to Best Friends
: If you activate a lucky egg and increase your friendship level by making an interaction while it is active, you double the amount of earned XP.
In this way, you can get 300,000 XP at the highest level instead of 150,000 XP. However, it is best if you can somehow coordinate with your counterpart – as some trainers unfortunately remove friends right after the friendship level has increased. Then the other side no longer receives the XP bonus.
You should also keep this in mind: In the current season there is another bonus that is useful for this: You can now keep 40 gifts in your item bag and also open 40 gifts a day. Thus, you can interact with more trainers per day and potentially increase more friendship levels.
Overall, it can be very worthwhile in the new season to regularly open gifts and collect XP to level up in Pokémon GO.
With this trick, you can even get over 300,000 XP daily
If you want to take advantage of the increased XP during the season even more, you can even take leveling up with friends to the next level. This way, trainers continuously look for new friends solely for this purpose, but don’t level up significantly with them, only to the status of Good Friend
, which you already reach after one interaction.
In this way, you could add new friends daily and thus open 40 potential packages a day. It’s best to do this in the evening at a fixed time in succession and using a lucky egg. In this way, you could secure 360,000 XP per day. The next day, you repeat the process with 40 new friends.
Over the entire season, you would thus come to a total of 32,760,000 XP. This is slightly more than the required amount of XP from level 0 to level 41. However, the downside is that you do not establish permanent friendships with other players this way. Additionally, it is quite time-consuming and involves a lot of clicking.
