The first major sponsored deal with Pokémon GO is sealed.
In the code, there were already signs detected, now McDonald’s Japan has confirmed it. The first major deal that Pokémon GO is making with a company will probably be with McDonald’s.
McDonald’s has not revealed the details yet. Yesterday a site reported that they are turning 3000 McDonald’s locations in Japan into PokéGyms. In Japan, the home of Pokémon, the game Pokémon GO has not launched yet, supposedly because they feared that the local server capacity would not handle the expected rush.
Some media outlets are also fueling fears: When it launches in Japan, we here in Europe are ultimately doomed, the servers would crash and collapse. Then there will be only problems, but whether that will actually have an impact seems rather questionable – at least the EU and North America servers appear to be operating independently from each other.
