In Pokémon GO the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the franchise kick off with a double event. And it brings quite a lot of content.
When does the event run? The “30 Years of Pokémon” event starts in Pokémon GO on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM. It is active until Monday, March 9, 2026, at 8:00 PM.
Here you can expect an incredible number of monsters in the wild and a legendary reward that you can receive in the GO Pass. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter legendary monsters in the wild.
All content of the 1st event part
What rewards are there in the GO Pass? During the event, there is a GO Pass that you can receive for free again and optionally upgrade to the paid version. From Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12:00 AM until Monday, March 9, 2026, at 7:59 PM, the limitation for points that you can receive here is lifted.
The highlight of the GO Pass will likely be a meeting with Mewtwo*, which you can receive in the free version. Additionally, you can obtain more encounters with Pokémon from the 1st generation as well as candies.
In the paid version, you can expect additional XL candies for Mewtwo*, encounters with Articuno*, Zapdos*, and Moltres*, special candies, and more rewards.
If you reach certain milestones in the Pass, you will also receive the following bonuses until the end of the event:
Free GO Pass:
- Rank 1: double amount of catch candies
- Rank 2: double amount of catch XP
Paid GO Pass:
- Rank 1: triple amount of catch candies
- Rank 2: triple amount of catch XP
What monsters are there in the wild? During the anniversary event, there will be a large number of monsters in the wild. All Pokémon from the 1st generation, except for the regional monsters as well as the two legendary monsters Mewtwo and Mew, should appear in the wild.
This also includes evolved forms as well as the 3 legendary monsters Articuno*, Zapdos*, and Moltres*.
Additionally, you will be able to find Ditto* in new forms during the event. What these are exactly is not known.
What monsters are there in raids? In raids, you will find the following monsters in the coming days:
1-Star Raids:
- Pikachu with Red Cap*
- Pikachu with Leaf’s Hat*
3-Star Raids:
- Venusaur*
- Charizard*
- Blastoise*
What monsters are there in field research? You can also find certain Pokémon in field research during the event. These are the following:
- Bulbasaur*
- Charmander*
- Squirtle*
- Pikachu*
- Magikarp*
- Eevee*
Additionally, you can obtain special candies, silver Pinap Berries, and golden Razz Berries in field research.
All monsters marked with a * can also appear as Shiny.
All content of the 2nd event part
When does the second part of the event run? The 2nd part of the event is titled “30 Years of Pokémon: Boundless”. This takes place from Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM to Monday, March 9, 2026, at 8:00 PM.
What bonus is there in the event? If you activate smoke during the Boundless part of the event, you can attract legendary Pokémon with a lot of luck.
What monsters are there in the wild? During the time of the 2nd event part, you can catch almost all the monsters that have already appeared in Pokémon GO in the wild. There are, however, some exceptions. You will not find mysterious monsters or Ultra Beasts in the wild.
Additionally, regional monsters that do not exist in your area as well as costumed Pokémon will not appear in the wild during the event. Furthermore, not all forms of monsters with multiple forms will be active.
Legendary monsters are not explicitly mentioned in the announcement. Therefore, it is not precisely known whether they will also appear in the wild during the event.
