Currently in Pokémon GO the Halloween event is running, focusing on spawns filled with ghost and spooky monsters. However, two Pokémon are currently missing for some trainers.
This is happening in Pokémon GO: The second part of the Halloween event has started and brought some new content. Costumed Vulpix, Gengar, and Pumpkaboo are now in play, the latter recently also in its shiny version.
- Additionally, the known limited research from part 1 is still available in the shop.
- The special research Mysterious Masks with Pumpkaboo is still ongoing.
- And new field researches are now live.
However, trainers in the Pokémon GO subreddit are currently missing two monsters they expected for Halloween.
Kryppuk in the shop, broken Zorua – two monsters causing criticism
What is the problem with Kryppuk? Kryppuk was partially obtainable via special research at past Halloween events, in October 2021 one could even encounter multiple specimens through field research.
It is a popular monster with an interesting shiny, which is usually only available in October in Pokémon GO.

However, in the current Halloween event, there is only a single Kryppuk encounter at the moment – from the 6-euro research in the shop. Without this ticket, one currently doesn’t encounter Kryppuk, neither in the wild, nor in raids or research.
This had already generated criticism during part 1 of the event in the Pokémon GO subreddit. Even now, in the second part, no further Kryppuk have appeared.
In the subreddit, a trainer points out that a limited research with Kryppuk would have improved the Halloween event. Another comments that he was still hoping for a research day with Kryppuk – so far without success: “I still can’t believe they would give us a single (paid) encounter for the entire year” (via reddit).
In the comments of the post, alongside Kryppuk, another monster is mentioned – namely the missing Zorua.
- “I think they fully relied on the Zorua surprise for the event, but they messed it up,” criticizes a trainer (via reddit).
- “I really hope the Zorua compensation will still take place within the time window for double candies,” comments a user (via reddit).
Zorua was supposed to come in the form of a exciting, special event, but an error caused it to be immediately disabled. Most Pokémon GO players never got the opportunity to catch Zorua – and so far, it is still unclear when it will return.
In contrast, there was praise for the adjustments to the Halloween map in Pokémon GO, with pumpkins, lighting effects, and even a benefit for colorblind players at PokéStops.
