You can no longer find a total of 13 field research tasks in Pokémon GO. They have been removed due to the coronavirus so that you can complete most quests from home.
Why were quests removed? Last week, Niantic announced that numerous field research tasks will no longer come from PokéStops. The developers want to make playing from home easier, and therefore have adjusted the tasks.
However, it took several days to clarify which quests were actually removed. Analysts from TheSilphRoad analyzed this and named 13 field research tasks that are currently no longer available in Pokémon GO.
Quests related to raids and gyms have been removed
This is the list: The affected quests mainly reward items. Some tasks that involve Pokémon are still available, but all quests that include items have been removed.
Here is the list of removed quests:
- Win a raid for items as a reward
- Battle in a raid for items as a reward (Pinsir can still be obtained from the quest)
- Win 3 raids for items as a reward
- Win a level 3 raid or higher for items as a reward (Kabuto and Amonitas can still be obtained from the quest)
- Battle in a gym for Mankey or items as a reward
- Battle 5 times in a gym for Machop or items as a reward
- Win a gym battle for Kanto starters or items as a reward
- Use a very effective charged attack in a gym battle for items as a reward
- Use a very effective charged attack in 7 gym battles for Electabuzz or items as a reward
- Win 3 gym battles for Roselia or items as a reward
- Hatch an egg for Sphera or items as a reward
- Hatch 3 eggs for Magmar or items as a reward
- Hatch 5 eggs for Chansey as a reward
Notable: Only quests that could be completed in Pokémon GO related to gyms or that involved eggs have disappeared. Some of these quests are still present, but they only involve Pokémon, so you still have the chance to encounter these monsters. All item quests that meet these criteria have been removed.
The field research “Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts” is still available, although many trainers complained that it is just as difficult to complete from home.
Were the removed quests really important? The most interesting quest might be “Hatch 5 eggs.” Here, there is at least a chance for shiny Chansey, which is now lost.
All other tasks involve Pokémon that are dispensable or that appear frequently in the wild. Therefore, there is no task that was truly important.

Keep in mind that there is currently a risk of contracting the coronavirus for yourself and others. The Federal Center for Health Education recommends staying home as much as possible, keeping a distance from others, and avoiding large gatherings. Niantic has taken various measures so that you can play Pokémon GO from home.
