The Community Days from April to September in Pokémon GO are expected to be determined by you, the trainers. Dataminers have found corresponding Pokémon for this.
What kind of voting is this? In February, we were able to choose one of 4 Pokémon for the Community Day and vote for it. In the end, the choice fell on Rhyhorn, and the new Shiny was introduced.
It looks like it will be quite similar for the coming months. Dataminers have found text passages that foresee such votes for the next 6 months. For each 2 months, 4 Pokémon will be available for selection. It is not entirely clear in which month the Community Day will take place.
These Pokémon are waiting for you in the votes
What about April/May? The following Pokémon were found in the files for selection in these two months:
- Squirtle
- Gastly
- Sandshrew
- Weedle
Squirtle could then appear again wearing sunglasses. The starter Pokémon already had a Community Day in July 2018, where it could also be caught with sunglasses.
Gastly is already available as Shiny, but brings a strong evolution with Gengar. If it learns a strong attack, it could become interesting again.
Sandshrew also has an Alolan form, and the Community Day there could proceed similarly to what Niantic planned for Vulpix. Both forms should appear and learn an interesting attack for PvP lovers. However, both Sandshrew forms are already available as Shiny.
Weedle is the only new Shiny here. Despite having a good attack, Beedrill may not become very strong, but anyone who wants a new Shiny might want to consider Weedle.
What about June/July? In the summer months, Niantic will likely offer the following Pokémon for selection:
- Charmander
- Caterpie
- Grimer
- Porygon
In 2018, we already had a Community Day with Charmander, but anyone who wants another good chance at a black Charizard will find this option exciting.
Caterpie is available as Shiny in the game, but has not been overly common. The evolution Butterfree will probably not become very strong even with a good attack.
Grimer is also available in its Alolan form in the game. Both forms are already available as Shiny. Grimer might not be exciting for raids, but with a good attack it could become stronger in PvP mode. The Alolan form is already one of the best monsters.
Porygon is the only new Shiny that would be added. Its evolution Porygon-Z is not really useful in raids, as it is a Normal type and therefore not effective against any type. It remains to be seen whether Niantic can assist with a strong attack.
What about August/September? In these two months, 4 Pokémon with similar criteria will again be available for selection:
- Bulbasaur
- Rattata
- Magikarp
- Staravia
Bulbasaur had a Community Day back in 2018. However, that was a long time ago, and some trainers might still be missing that Shiny. A Venusaur with a Flora statue is also quite useful.
Rattata is a completely new Shiny. However, it already has an Alolan form that is available as Shiny. With a strong attack, Exeggutor could become really useful.
Magikarp was the first Shiny that could be caught in Pokémon GO. However, anyone who still needs Magikarp candy for evolution or wants to fill their medal with the XL Magikarp should focus on Magikarp. A Gyarados with a good attack could be very useful.
Staravia is the only Pokémon in the vote that does not come from Generation 1. Its Shiny would be completely new, just like Rattata. Staraptor is a solid Flying attacker and could become even better with a new attack. However, the Flying type is not very important in the meta.
Why is there voting for 2 months each time? One can only speculate about that. Perhaps Niantic wants to present one Pokémon for selection in one month, and in the other month it will be determined by Niantic. This was also the case with Rhyhorn and Abra.
But it may also be that Niantic is slowing down and will only hold a Community Day every two months.
How reliable is this dataminer find? So far, nothing has been confirmed by Niantic. Therefore, one must view this leak with a portion of skepticism.
Nevertheless, it must be said that such leaks often turned out to be true, and the Pokémon that could be offered for selection seem legitimate.
In a few weeks, we will know more. Niantic must announce the Community Day for April.
