At the GO Fest, you can again secure exclusive moves for certain Pokémon in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO will show you which ones they are, how to get them, and whether they are worth it.
Which moves are involved? The GO Fest 2023, one of the biggest events of the year, is approaching in Pokémon GO. In addition to plenty of spawns and bonuses, you can again look forward to exclusive moves during the two-day event, which your Pokémon can learn in various ways.
We have summarized for you which 10 moves there will be, how to teach them to your Pokémon, and whether the moves are worth it at all.
When does the GO Fest take place? The GO Fest runs from August 26 to 27, 2023, each day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. During this time, you will also receive the exclusive moves.
Exclusive Moves through Evolving Pokémon
How do you get exclusive moves? During the event, you can secure one or even multiple exclusive moves for selected Pokémon. To do so, you need to evolve the Pokémon accordingly during this time.
So if you want to secure the fast move Bug Bite for Butterfree, you need to evolve your Metapod into a Butterfree, and you will automatically receive this move. Outside of the event, the Pokémon can usually only learn these moves with a Fast TM or Charge TM.
Which moves can they learn? The exclusive moves consist of fast and charge moves, with the designated Pokémon receiving a selected one. An exception is the grass and poison Pokémon Roserade, which receives two moves. The following moves can be obtained by your Pokémon in this way:
- Butterfree: Bug Bite (Fast move of Bug type)
- Sandshrew: Night Slash (Charge move of Dark type)
- Clefairy: Pound (Fast move of Normal type)
- Flygon: Earth Power (Charge move of Ground type)
- Hydreigon: Brutal Swing (Charge move of Dragon type)
- Metagross: Meteor Mash (Charge move of Steel type)
- Snorlax: Body Slam (Charge move of Normal type)
- Roserade:
- Bullet Seed (Fast move of Grass type)
- Flamethrower (Charge move of Fire type)
Which moves are particularly worth it? If you are looking for a strong attacker for raids, you should definitely evolve Dratini into Dragonite to learn the charge move Outrage
.
This, in combination with Dragon Tail
, is its strongest moveset, making it one of the best dragon attackers in Pokémon GO. In its Mega Evolution, it is even a bit stronger, but in raids, it should also rely on Dragon Tail
and Outrage
.
You should also give Metagross the charge move Meteor Mash
. This especially shines in combination with Bullet Punch
in raids and secures it the title of the best Steel attacker in Pokémon GO. In the Master League, this Steel and Psychic type Pokémon ranks a solid 43rd place. If you want to use it there, aim for a moveset of Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash, and Psychic.
Exclusive Move for Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza
What kind of move is that? For the GO Fest 2023, the Mega form of Rayquaza celebrates its worldwide debut in the game. But to execute this evolution, you not only need a lot of Mega Energy, but you also need to teach Rayquaza the exclusive charge move Dragon Ascent
.
How do you get the move? Unlike what you know from other Pokémon in Pokémon GO, you can’t simply change the move with a corresponding charge TM, but need a completely new item: Meteorite.
You will receive one of them during the second event day of the GO Fest from a corresponding special research. You will get this by logging into the game on Sunday during the event. If you have a ticket, you can also secure another research with a second Meteorite.

Is the move worth it? Yes, because with the new charge move, Rayquaza does a lot of damage in battle and is therefore the best flying attacker in the game. In its Mega form, it is even more powerful, so you can often use it independently of its type advantage in raids.
This means that not only a pure combination of flying moves from Aerial Ace
and Dragon Ascent
is conceivable, but you could also alternatively use the fast move Dragon Tail
.
In the Master League, the normal form can also shine with its new move. It secures 14th place there with a moveset of Dragon Tail, Outrage, and Dragon Ascent in the PvPoke ranking.
