How many times has Gran Turismo Sport been delayed now? Most fans have probably lost count. Although the racing simulation from Polyphony Digital still has no concrete release date, it is supposed to finally be released in 2017.
Gran Turismo Sport is set to continue the high realism cherished by fans of the GT series and elevate it to a new level with numerous innovations. The developers promise realistic and detailed graphics that portray the cars and tracks.
The special feature of the game will be the Sport Mode, the online mode of GT Sport. It will feature two FIA-certified online championships where you represent your home country and preferred car manufacturer. The winners will receive recognition at the annual FIA awards ceremony – just like real motorsport champions. Thanks to “GT Sport Live”, you can also watch the races of the Sport Mode live.

However, one question remains: how extensive will the VR experience be? A year ago, it was said that all parts of the game would be incorporated into virtual reality. Since then, Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, has somewhat walked back in a conversation with Eurogamer. VR will just be a part of Gran Turismo Sport. During development, it was discovered that it would be too much of a burden for players if the entire game were playable in VR.
However, Yamauchi describes the upcoming VR experience of GT Sport as “very good and very natural”. The embedded trailer states that only some cars and tracks will support VR.
