2016 is supposed to be the year of Virtual Reality also on consoles. Where does Playstation VR stand? What are the exciting titles for Sony’s VR solution for the Playstation?
Sony Computer Entertainment (Japan & Asia) President Atsushi Morita recently explained in an interview how he envisions the future of Playstation VR. His primary goal is for the new technology to have a long-term presence in the market and not become a passing trend. Of course, it is necessary for the technology to reach the people and be utilized. Although there is still no official price from Sony, a possible price has already surfaced on the internet.
If we can trust the information from the Swiss retailer Microspot, Sony is asking for 499 Swiss Francs for the headset, which is approximately 455 Euros. This price is indeed steep, but still significantly cheaper than the direct competitor in the VR market, Oculus Rift. Here, the price is expected to be 599 dollars without taxes and shipping, which amounts to well over 700 Euros that one would have to pay in Germany. Thus, entering the virtual reality will be anything but cheap ‒ at least at the beginning.
Perhaps the games that are scheduled for release in 2016 for Playstation VR might convince users to purchase the stylish headset. We want to take a look at 5 promising titles.

When you watch the trailer for Adr1ft, a game developed by threeonezero and published by 505 Games, you are instantly reminded of the movie Gravity: You float as an astronaut in space, surrounded by countless debris from a space station.
Obviously, you are in immediate danger at the very beginning, having to avoid numerous floating objects and first find your bearings. In this rather precarious situation, you also have to squeeze through narrow corridors of a deserted space station and constantly be on the lookout for oxygen supplies, which you are continuously reminded of by a rather annoying breathing noise.
Aside from this increasingly annoying loud breathing from our astronaut, the game looks quite decent. It appears that this first-person space adventure could provide an excellent VR experience. The aim, by the way, is to return home safely. Hopefully, one doesn’t get nauseous on this space trip before then.
The game is initially set to release on PC, alongside Oculus Rift. However, a version for the Playstation is firmly planned and will be announced soon.
