So far, Europe has been spared from price increases for the PlayStation Plus subscription. However, that will change starting on August 31, 2017.
In the USA and Canada, price increases were already implemented last year. Players had hoped that these changes would be delayed in Europe. They were, until this point. Sony has so far not provided any arguments for the price increase in its statement. The dollar prices will be adopted 1:1. The fees in euros will change as follows:
- With annual billing, the price changes from €49.99 to €59.99 per year.
- With quarterly billing, the price changes from €19.99 to €24.99 per quarter.
- With monthly billing, the price changes from €6.99 to €7.99 per month.
The benefits for PlayStation Plus subscribers will not be improved due to this adjustment, but will remain as usual with multiplayer content and the monthly free games.
Note: This also applies to existing subscribers. Subscription fees due on or after August 31, 2017, will also be adjusted to the new prices. Anyone who disagrees may cancel their subscription. Gift cards are excluded. A glance at Amazon.de shows that the cards can still be purchased at the cheaper rates. This is likely to only last for a short time. Corresponding dealers will probably have to follow suit soon.
