Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris has to deal with a ban again. This time, however, in the PlayStation Network (PSN for short). Again, you ask? In fact, this is already his fifth ban in just four months, but who is really to blame seems unclear.
What happened? As if streamer MontanaBlack currently didn’t have enough drama thanks to the NFT scandal around him; he recently shared a post on Twitter that shows a message from PlayStation support. Apparently, the streamer received a severe ban. Permanent suspension and exclusion from the PlayStation Network and online features included. MontanaBlack claims he did nothing wrong.
MontanaBlack is permanently banned – at least for now
What is the reason for the ban? The tweet that MontanaBlack posted includes the reason for the ban, but also an assessment from the streamer himself. Sony has permanently banned the streamer for one of the following reasons:
- Hate speech
- Hateful content
- Insult
- Racism
- Sexism
- or similar
However, the reasons are generally not specified further. What exactly this was about has not been communicated with absolute clarity.
Who is to blame? PlayStation itself states under each notification of a ban that this is only issued after careful consideration. However, the 33-year-old streamer does not admit his guilt. On the contrary: In the description of his tweet, he blames the company for the supposedly pointless and unfounded permanent ban. The streamer therefore refers to past bans by PlayStation.
This is already the 5th ban that MontanaBlack has received in the last 4 months. On September 3, 2021, MontanaBlack also announced on Twitter that he was banned. He listed how often this has happened to him in recent weeks and months.
On August 29, PlayStation lifted the first ban after 30 days. Just two days later, the streamer received the next ban. The ban, initially intended for 60 days, was already lifted by the company after two days. The reason was said to be a system error. One single further day after the alleged system error, MontanaBlack was then banned again – this time for a few days (via twitter.com).
MontanaBlack adds that the bans occur each time again through the automatic filter system of PlayStation or Sony. The support always reinstates him. However, it remains unclear whether the streamer will be unbanned this time as well. Should anything arise regarding this, we will update the article promptly.
What are the chances for Monte: If history really repeats itself, it will also be the case for MontanaBlack. The chances are very good that the streamer will get his account back. In the comments on this “Sony-Monte-drama”, fans of the streamer write that he should just change platforms once and for all.
However, some others do not believe that MontanaBlack is innocent. In their opinion, no one is simply permanently excluded from the PlayStation Network by accident. Only his status as one of the biggest streamers in the world has prevented Monte from being permanently banned (via twitter.com).
