The PlayStation 4K has now been officially confirmed! Curious fans will not get to see it at E3 yet.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, confirmed that an “upgraded version” of the PlayStation 4 is currently in development.
This “high-end PS4” will be more expensive than the current “Standard PS4” and will not replace it: Both versions are expected to be sold alongside each other throughout the entire PS4 generation.
The new console from Sony is intended as a complement to the existing one and will support UHD 4K resolutions. This aims to target “hardcore gamers” and owners of 4K TVs, according to House.
The CEO adds:
All games will support the Standard PS4, and we assume that all or a large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.
With the PS4K, Sony wants to offer consumers and developers the opportunity for “some additional benefits.”
