With the latest update to Red Dead Online, the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2, poker has finally been added to the game. However, not everyone can enjoy this much-requested feature. In some countries, the card game has been blocked.
What has been added to the game? With the latest major update for Red Dead Online, a few of the players’ wishes have been fulfilled. Not only have the popular ponchos been added to the game, but also poker.
In towns and outposts, players can now indulge in gambling in the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2. Poker tables can be found in Blackwater, Saint Denis, Tumbleweed, Smithfield’s, and Flatneck Station.

Why is poker blocked? After the update, some players reported that they could not play poker. Some thought it was a bug or that they needed to unlock the card game.
However, after a few players contacted Rockstar Support, it was revealed that regional laws are to blame for their exclusion from poker.
Among other places, the card game is blocked in Poland, the Czech Republic, Iceland, and Argentina.
The new update makes Red Dead Redemption 2 better…and worse!
What does Rockstar say? A player shared their response from Rockstar, the developers of Red Dead Redemption 2, in the RDR2 subreddit. In it, support apologizes for the blocked feature, which they can do nothing about due to regional laws:
Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.
We understand your concern about not being able to play poker. We appreciate your interest in this feature of the game.
We are sorry to inform you that the availability of poker in Red Dead Online depends on regional laws and regulations and may not be available to all players. In short, poker is not available in countries where online gambling is restricted or illegal. We apologize if this has caused any inconvenience.

What do the players say? In the RDR2 subreddit, players discuss the blocking of the feature.
A player from Argentina, where poker is also blocked in RDO, told on Reddit that it makes no sense for Rockstar to disallow the feature in his country. He said Argentines can still gamble for real money on gambling sites but are not allowed to play cards in a video game.
Other players say they would understand the block if it involved real money. But in RDO, you can’t even bet gold bars, which can be purchased with real money.
