In the Warzone of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there was a major exploit that made a player duo practically immortal. It was so unfair that a fix was immediately deployed.
What was the exploit? The new and popular Battle Royale Warzone uses, as is typical for the genre, a mechanic that makes the playing field gradually smaller. For this, gas is distributed in the death zone that slowly but surely kills players.
The two players MightyKonsti and Steve_Furz also ended up in the gas zone. But instead of dying there, they found a way to continue living indefinitely.
When you die in Call of Duty: Warzone, you first land in a downstate, from which other players can revive you, similar to Borderlands 3 or Guild Wars 2.
However, in Warzone there was no penalty for multiple deaths in a row. Additionally, the hit points were related to how quickly you are revived. And that’s exactly why the two players survived, even though the gas was supposed to kill them.
How did Infinity Ward respond? After the exploit gained notoriety, the developer Infinity Ward responded and released a playlist update on March 12 that fixed this exact issue.
Although there is no exact description of the change, players have reported on reddit that you are now revived with 25% of your hit points.
In the gas zone, this now leads to death so quickly that players can no longer revive each other.
Warzone is a success, but still has weaknesses
How is Warzone performing? The new game mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which can also be played for free and without owning the shooter, is well received by players.
