Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a standalone multiplayer from the acclaimed action hit and currently available through PS Plus at no additional cost. However, the title confuses the PlayStation Store on PS4 / PS5 and may lead to higher costs when fully purchasing the title – or the game becomes cheaper.
This is the situation:
- PlayStation Plus offers in March 2022 with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends the multiplayer part of the popular action spectacle
- Some players, however, warn: The download prevents you from getting the PS5 version at a discounted price and may block the purchase of the Director’s Cut
- In fact, the PlayStation Store is so confused that you can also get the Director’s Cut at a lower price
What can become more expensive?
On the discussion platform reddit, some players warn against downloading the multiplayer standalone of Ghost of Tsushima with PS Plus.
The available version is called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and according to some players’ experiences on reddit, it seems that the “game licenses” do not favor this version (via reddit.com).
Players report that after purchasing the Legends version, they can no longer upgrade their PS4 version to the PS5 version at a discounted price.
This service is available for Ghost of Tsushima for owners of the PS4 version and it actually costs €10. An upgrade to the Director’s Cut is also no longer possible.
Then you would have to purchase the corresponding PS5 versions at full price to enjoy the polished versions.
The developers have already reacted to the error on Twitter and recommend contacting PlayStation Support (via twitter.com)
You may need to contact PlayStation Customer Support (or @AskPlayStation) and they can hopefully sort this out.

Is there a solution to the problem? In the thread on reddit, some users also provide a solution, but you apparently need to involve PlayStation Support.
If you want the discounted upgrades, the PS Support can revoke the license for the multiplayer standalone and reset everything to the start.
After that, the PS5 upgrade and the ‘Director’s Cut’ edition can be purchased normally again.
If you have the desired upgrades, you can use Ghost of Tsushima: Legends without any issues.
What can become cheaper?
And it gets even better. We also looked at the Legends version in the PlayStation Store and found that the Director’s Cut becomes cheaper with the purchase.
This only applies if you do not own any version of Ghost of Tsushima at all.
Before activating the download, we would have needed to pay €79.99 for the Director’s Cut. With Ghost of Tsushima: Legends in the game library, suddenly €20 less was required – the PS Store only wants a flat rate of €60 for it.
Will it stay that way? Currently, no statement from PlayStation can be found on the matter. However, it is clearly a mistake and the PS Support is already aware of it.

If you want to buy the game right now, then do the opposite and get the Legends version first before the action hit lands in your shopping cart to save a few euros.
