Bots can be quite annoying in MMORPGs, World of Warcraft is no exception. A player has now struck back in a very clever way.
What is the problem? Some players in WoW use bots, for example, to farm gold. This is very effective, especially for gold sellers, who then sell the gold for real money to players who have little time to farm themselves but want to progress quickly in the MMORPG.
Bots are, of course, a problem – in every MMORPG and they really annoy regular players. Also in WoW. A popular place for gold farming in Blizzard’s MMORPG is the area of Gorgrond. There it is possible to defeat enemies in a matter of seconds and quickly get to the loot.
Bots turn into useless zombies in WoW
How did a player respond to this? WoW player and reddit user Moxxface struck back and thanks to the Stage 2 of the Shadowlands Pre-Patch Event found a way to significantly disrupt the botters.
This week, an invasion of the Scourge is taking place in all capital cities in the game world. Moxxface discovered that he can confuse the scripts used by the botters by transforming characters into zombies.
As zombies, the bots are useless for a while, which certainly goes against the users. Among his opponents are also users of multiboxing, which was basically banned at the beginning of November.
This is noticeable because the players become quite agitated if their character is transformed into a zombie and can no longer farm. Multiboxers are generally not well received in the community.
You can see this for yourself in the video here:
Moxxface enjoys making fun of the botters, some of whom even log out in frustration. Regular players who watch this video even celebrate Moxxface for it.
Of course, there is another way to deal with the botters. You can report them to Blizzard, as botting violates the MMORPG’s guidelines.
What do you think of this method of dealing with botters? Does it make you happy to see these players get what they deserve?
If you still want to take advantage of the pre-event without running around as a zombie, you can find rare bosses with their powerful loot in Icecrown.
