A group of players attracted attention some weeks ago in Final Fantasy XIV by overcoming the most difficult content without healers. Now they have skipped the next class, and the community is certain about what comes next.
What kind of raid is this? The Fatal Raid “A Second Future” consists of 5 phases, each with its own mechanics. The raid is based on the normal raid series “Eden” from Shadowbringers and narrates the battle in a way. To participate in the raid, a group of 8 players is needed.
Why is it so hard? The conditions for the raid are already tough:
- Each of the eight players must have defeated the 8-player raid Arkadion – Light Heavyweight R4 (epic). This is already a challenging endgame feat.
- No class may be duplicated, otherwise the limit bar will no longer fill. Therefore, advantages from certain classes cannot be utilized.
- Players must be at least level 100, meaning they have reached the maximum level. This happens automatically by playing through the story.
- The item level must be at least 735.
The fatal raids allow for almost no mistakes. If a player is not standing in their position or if tanks and healers fail at their tasks, it often means death for the entire group. Also, damage dealers (DDs) must fulfill their roles as there is a damage check that requires a minimum amount of damage to be dealt.
A group from the MMORPG has taken it upon themselves to complete the raid without one of the required classes. They have succeeded in this twice already.
Some of the classes also appear in the mobile version of the MMORPG:
Now the tanks are missing after the healers
How did they do that? When the group completed the raid without healers, the tanks were able to heal themselves, which compensated for the missing healers. However, it was more difficult with the missing tanks, as there is no class that can withstand nearly as much damage as a tank.
Therefore, the following strategy was employed:
- The aggro of the opponent switches back and forth between the DDs, mostly between monk and piktomancer. The monk often becomes the main tank due to their high damage.
- The healers try to heal the damage and resurrect the fallen DDs.
- This involves 2 shield healers and one pure healer. Thus, the group is often equipped with additional shields that can absorb further damage.
In this way, they were able to complete the raid within 19 minutes. And the community is certain about what the next challenge should be. You can watch the entire run in a YouTube video.
What do they suggest next? On Reddit, some users suggest that the group should next complete the raid without damage dealers. Then the group would have to consist of only healers and tanks. It would then depend on selecting classes that can deal as much damage as possible – to succeed in the damage check.
Besides the Fatal Raid, there are also other activities you can undertake in the endgame. MeinMMO has summarized in an overview what activities you can pursue even after finishing the story: Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail: Endgame – Chaotic Alliance Raids, Trials, Treasure Maps, and more
