In Fallout 76, it is possible to destroy the bases of your enemies with nuclear missiles. However, this sounds easier than it is. Is the fear of nuclear bombs in Fallout 76 justified?
The Fear: One builds a base in Fallout 76 with great effort, and other players repeatedly destroy it with nuclear bombs. After the introduction of nukes in Fallout 76, players feared that the nuclear missiles would become the dominant and destructive force in Fallout 76. And that it would not be worth building anything if the neighbor already has their finger on the red button.
It will be difficult: However, it will not play out like that in the game.

Executing a nuclear strike is not easy
Nuclear bombs are difficult-to-use weapons. While there is the possibility to launch nuclear missiles, which also cause devastating damage, using the weapons of mass destruction is anything but easy:
- You first need to find several parts of the launch code
- These codes may be guarded and are not easy to obtain
- You need to advance to the launch site with the code, which is also guarded
- There, you need to enter the code before the missile can be launched
Nuclear bombs are also important in PvE
Individuals cannot be targets for nuclear bombs. It is not possible to launch a nuclear missile at individual players. Instead, you designate an area to be hit. Anyone in that zone will receive a warning to get to safety.
Nuclear explosions change areas. Where a nuclear missile explodes, you will subsequently find rare resources and special loot for a limited time. However, the area is also radioactive, so you need to protect yourself. Additionally, the explosion attracts particularly dangerous creatures.
In an emergency, you can always patch
You probably have to wait for the beta: It is likely necessary to wait for the beta to see how exactly nuclear missiles will be used on the servers. If they are really so powerful that it is not enjoyable for “builders” to set up their bases because they are defenseless against the attacks, Bethesda will certainly intervene and adjust things.
Fallout 76 will be released on November 14 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Before that, a beta will take place.
