Players of Battlefield 6 report that EA is mercilessly cracking down on cheaters on consoles. For them, this is bitter, as they have spent a lot of money for it.
What have players spent money on? Players who want to cheat on consoles like the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S often resort to a so-called Cronus Zen. The Cronus Zen is a device that provides you with partly unfair and unauthorized aids in various games.
A Cronus Zen costs around €130 on the manufacturer’s website for the enhanced version; the cheaper basic version of the device is no longer available. Battlefield 6 itself costs another €80 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. To play Battlefield 6 with a Cronus Zen, players thus spent nearly €210.
Players report harsh consequences from EA
How is EA reacting? On social networks, like on Reddit, a message is circulating that EA permanently bans players from Battlefield 6 if they are caught using a Cronus Zen.
The message states:
“Your account has been deactivated. Cronus Zen activities on this account have violated EA’s terms of service: We have permanently blocked access to this product [Battlefield 6].”
We asked EA if this message is real and whether the way of using a Cronus Zen makes a difference regarding the feared consequences. It is unclear, for example, whether a player will also be punished to the full extent if they only use the device to use an unsupported controller.
Why is the Cronus Zen so unfair? With the Cronus Zen, for example, it is possible to reduce the recoil of a weapon, set up macros that enhance the aim assist of a game, and let semi-automatic weapons fire at the highest possible rate automatically at the push of a button.
Furthermore, the Cronus Zen allows universal controller use on the various consoles. This way, players can use an Xbox controller on the PlayStation – or use mouse and keyboard in games that do not support mouse and keyboard at all.
Many users react with joy to the news that EA would permanently ban caught Cronus Zen users. This is not always a given.
