Many players feel that Destiny 2 has noticeably become harder with Season 11 and are eagerly discussing it on reddit. What exactly is the problem and what are your experiences?
Players are puzzling over: Has Destiny 2 become harder with the current season of Arrival? Or are our Guardians weaker? Have there been secret changes? Or is something bugged? All these questions are currently also on the minds of the Destiny community on reddit.
In a relevant thread with over 8,000 upvotes and more than 1,200 comments (June 29 at 9 a.m., after just over a day), this is being actively debated on the discussion platform. Some players firmly believe that the Destiny experience has indeed become noticeably tougher in recent weeks.
How exactly does this phenomenon manifest? Numerous players report that since the new Season 11, they simply can’t find any ground in many activities – whether in Strikes, Raids, Dungeons, Nightmare hunts, quest missions like Whisper, or even in patrol in the open world.
Where previously you could stroll through, now you die noticeably often – and this is despite having either the recommended power level or being miles above it. A lot has become noticeably harder. Players feel as if they can sometimes take less damage themselves, and sometimes, that the enemies have become more aggressive and deal more damage.
For example, some players who know the dungeon “The Shattered Throne” inside and out claim that there has definitely been a change in difficulty in the new season. They have trouble even reaching the bosses and are dying in parts where they used to always feel very comfortable.
Even on patrol, some Guardians report being taken down by just a couple of shots from ordinary enemies, which they find unusual.
In short: Many players currently feel as if they are being wiped out in Season 11 – especially in activities where they previously felt unstoppable. Something just doesn’t feel right.
However, there are definitely players who have not noticed any changes or inconsistencies.
Here are my experiences: I, Sven Galitzki, shooter expert at MeinMMO, have had similar experiences, which is why I picked up this topic from reddit.
For me, however, it feels more like this experience varies. Sometimes I also feel like I’m being torn apart by the easiest enemy after just a few hits – in a way that I have not experienced in the game before. The enemies are usually also excessively aggressive and accurate.
However, if I do the same activity again at a different time, it can happen that everything feels just like it always does or even the exact opposite. Then I can stand in front of the same enemies, do nothing, and they take what feels like an eternity to even bring my health down to a critical level. Sometimes they even stand there completely indifferent.
I have observed this phenomenon, among other places, in the Lost Sector Core Terminus on Mars, where I traditionally complete many of my bounties or advance catalysts.
So I also feel: something is not right, something has changed with Season 11. But what exactly, I cannot say. Other players on reddit report similar experiences where the power of our Guardians or the enemies varies.
What could the reasons be? No one knows for sure; there are only speculations so far. Bungie itself has not commented on the discussion.
Some assume that there could be issues with the net code or the servers. This would also explain why it occurs for some players and not for others or why it occurs for the same players sometimes and not at other times.
Others think there could be bugs that are triggered under certain conditions. Again, others think it is possible that there have been secret changes to the stats of the enemies or our Guardians – for example, regarding the Guardians’ resilience.
Even in Gambit, some Guardians have been complaining for a long time about inconsistencies with the enemy’s strength (beyond the regular changes in the respective rounds). Some believe that this may now have spread to the rest of the game.
How about you? What experiences have you had in Season 11? Have you noticed any significant changes? Is something just not right? Or have you not noticed anything regarding your own survivability and the strength of the enemies? Let us know in the comments.
By the way, something else is broken in Destiny 2, but still good: The story of Destiny 2 is “broken, but well written,” says the greatest lore expert
