What is the problem? The raids in Pokémon GO do not last indefinitely. Every evening these special battles end and only start again the next morning.
Many players who only come to play in the evenings can hardly complete any raids. They are now asking: Why aren’t the times simply extended?
This problem exists with the raid times
This is how the raids work: The battles start early in the day around 6 AM. Then the first bosses hatch. The last raid egg appears at around 8 PM at the gym. Together with the hour the egg stays at the gym and the total time of 45 minutes, the latest raid ends at 9:45 PM.
Therefore, one can hope until 8 PM that another raid egg appears at a gym. The probability that one can still battle some bosses around 9 PM is especially low in small towns. There are fewer gyms there, which results in a lower occurrence of raids.
This is behind the raid times: There is no official explanation from Niantic for why there is only a limited time. However, it is likely mainly due to two points: safety and noise.
- If you do a raid in a dark park at 2 AM, it’s not as safe as a raid at 3 PM in daylight
- If many people battle a boss in the middle of the night, there could be noise from that group. This would disturb local residents
Why aren’t the raid times extended? The question of extending the raids is valid. If eggs can still appear until, for example, 10 PM, then they will expire before midnight. Whether you fight in a raid at 9:30 PM or 11:30 PM should not make a big difference in safety and noise, trainers believe.
