CoD Warzone has brought back Verdansk, and that makes many players happy. The game is said to be very close to the original again.
This is what is currently happening with Warzone: In Call of Duty: Warzone, the mood of players has been rather poor in recent months, no, even in the past years. One issue has been the maps. No map was as well-received as the original map Verdansk—especially the most recent map, Area 99, was extremely unpopular in the community.
- However, on April 2, Season 3 in Black Ops 6 started.
- The servers of Warzone were then offline for 24 hours
- On April 3, the moment came that Warzone players had long awaited for 3 years: the return of Verdansk.
Activision has brought back the popular original map of Warzone with some changes that are not intended to ruin the flow of the map. Verdansk is meant to play like before but look better.
“Very close to the original”
This is what players say: Overall, players are very satisfied. The mood is very shaped by the thought of “like in the good old days.” The “new” Verdansk is well received:
- “Holy shit! This feels good. I personally think they almost nailed it. Verdansk looks fantastic, and the lighting is perfect. […] Overall, I am very satisfied after a few games; it has brought back many good memories.” – Reddit
- “I played a few matches of the new Verdansk, and I have to say… Whoever took this gameplay away from us and let us play the garbage of the last 3 years… to the Gulag with you! This is very close to the original!” – Reddit
- “We are actually back. With all due respect, if you are still complaining about this game, then you are just an unhappy person who is going out of their way to be negative, and you should just stop playing entirely. This is the game that feels most like WZ1.” – Reddit
But not just Verdansk, but also the new weapons like the HDR (sniper) and the CR-56-AMAX (assault rifle) are very enjoyable for many players. Additionally, the legendary Grau is back as a build kit.
Is there also criticism? Yes, but it is very limited. Some players feel that the time-to-kill is a bit too fast, while others find that opponents are trying very hard to win on Verdansk. However, criticism often notes that players are overall happy and these are their only points of criticism.
Verdansk sparks great interest on Twitch
This is how the return went: The return of Verdansk started without major problems. The servers even went online minutes before the anticipated time, and the first matches were quickly found. Some players had connection issues, but overall everything went smoothly and the servers were stable.
The interest in the return of Verdansk was also visible on Twitch, where up to 355,000 viewers watched Warzone streams simultaneously on April 3 (via Sullygnome).
By comparison: in the past 6 months, Warzone had an average of 27,109 viewers. The peak in this period was previously on November 14, 2024, when the “Black Ops 6” content was integrated into Warzone and around 177,000 viewers watched live.
