The beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has ended and one gadget is receiving a lot of praise from players who enjoy focusing on capturing zones.
Until October 16, the beta of CoD: MW3 ran, offering an insight into 7 different multiplayer modes. There were also familiar modes that really put objective players to the test: Domination, Hardpoint, and Ground War.
In the modes, it’s about capturing specific zones and defending them from opponents. And probably every Call of Duty player knows this when entering such a match: teammates who like to farm kills but somehow don’t want to engage much with the zone.
A field equipment item from the beta is now especially praised by players for whom flags and zones in matches represent the most important objectives.
New field equipment captures zones and hacks devices
What kind of gadget is this? The gadget is the field equipment A.C.S. (Automated Computer Spike). This helpful item looks like a flat, portable computer and has the function of slowly capturing zones and hacking enemy devices nearby (via callofduty.com).
This allows players in CoD: MW3 to focus on taking a better position and defending areas while their little helper lies in the zone.
In a post on Reddit, the user “eyeriis” writes on October 16 that the A.C.S. field equipment is “the best thing added to CoD.”

For someone who is a total objective player in CoD, the A.C.S. is so damn helpful when you are actually trying to win the game.
Especially in Hardpoint, which is my favorite mode, it helped a lot to throw the A.C.S. to defend the point for a few seconds when I know I’m going to die.

This is what other players say: Some of the community agrees with “eyeriis”, while others are less impressed. “KEE_Wii” agrees: “I keep finding myself defending the point alone while 90% of the team just runs around and shoots. With A.C.S. I have a real chance to win.”
“Wishful_cynic” calls the A.C.S. “his new buddy.” Another user comments: “Designed for solo objective players. It’s like having the option to call in a reliable teammate for capturing the zone while you defend it yourself.”
The user “Sqweeg” adds that he hopes the field equipment will still be available upon full release. It is also very useful in the mode “Ground War.” “If you are alone on the flag, this upgrade speeds up the capture as if we were 5 […]. It helped me capture some flags all by myself.”
The user “Radeni” writes in the comment that the upgrade still needs to be improved and says: “Half the time it doesn’t work.” Another user finds the A.C.S. useless, as it seems to be destroyed in a few seconds after being placed.
“slayer-x” considers the field equipment to be particularly helpful for solo players. It is “not really overpowered, as it does not last long and can be easily destroyed.” However, it could become a problem “when playing against a group or multiple people using it.”
