Warframe has received the major Empyrean update. We take a look at what the fans think about it.
What is Empyrean? The update represents a kind of soft reset for Warframe. While it has always been about making your hero stronger, Empyrean is supposed to offer a new entry point. This comes through the new space battles, as you have to farm the equipment for Empyrean independently of your previous progress.
You either build your own spaceship or fly with other players. With your ship, you then participate in battles in space, where teamwork is important. One steers the ship, while the other operates the onboard cannons.
When was Empyrean released? The update launched on the night of December 12 to 13 for the PC version and went live during the Game Awards. The console version will follow at a later time.
Also recently added to the game is the Warframe Ivara Prime. The Prime version essentially represents Ivara in its ultimate and most powerful form. New Prime weapons (Baza Prime and Aksomati Prime), accessories (Apvada Prime Syandana and Anasa Ayatan Prime Armor), and Prime glyphs are included.
A good update, but plagued by bugs
How is the update received by players? Generally, fans are pleased with the space battles, which are fun in groups. Empyrean offers plenty of challenges and promotes teamwork. The fact that it is not so easy to master the battles in space is well received in the community.
However, Empyrean launched with many bugs. For example, players get stuck in captured ships, it’s not always possible to join squads even when they are available, or ships suddenly become invisible. These are just some of the bugs that players are currently collecting in a Reddit thread.
Warframe has dealt with bugs before. The release of Plains of Eidolon also did not go smoothly. Players know that the developers will address the issues quickly, but it is still frustrating.
How do players react? We have compiled some player reactions to the Empyrean update that reflect the sentiment in the community.
- TheAnhor says on Reddit: “I thought I would hate it. Or at least respond neutrally at best. But I really enjoy it. The frequent bugs have frustrated me, and there are some things that need improvement. But all in all, I’m having much more fun than I thought I would.”
- Lutebot and chill writes on Steam: “It’s broken and looks like an early access alpha. There are so many bugs. Apparently, the update was only released to take advantage of the hype around the Game Awards.”
- Ephemiel explains in the official forum: “Don’t forget that Empyrean was announced as an expansion. An expansion that basically boils down to what we have already been doing all along!”
- Muffins117 says on Reddit: “Apart from the bugs, it’s the most fun I’ve had in a while. Missions can take a long time, the combat is exciting, and as a pilot, you’re kept busy. You get overwhelmed with resources, ship modifications, and ship parts.”
- Magondi writes: “It’s new, it’s dynamic, and it’s fun. There’s a lot to grind like Intrinsics, materials, mods, and upgrades for the Railjack.”
The players’ reactions show that Empyrean is basically a really good expansion for Warframe and is fun, but bugs currently disrupt the enjoyment of the game. The developers still have a lot to do to create a smooth and problem-free gaming experience.
The developers are working on improvements
What have the developers done so far? Digital Extremes studio is working hard to iron out bugs and issues. A first hotfix is already addressing some things. For example, a door has been fixed that was blocking progress in a mission.
More hotfixes and patches will follow.
What do players think of the patch? Of course, they are glad that something is already happening, but it’s just a start. There are still bugs in the game that urgently need to be fixed.
- Trospar says on Reddit: “Here are a few points I’ve noticed: 1. They were working on improvements Saturday night. 2. Not everyone in the company is focused on balancing changes. 3. At least they are fixing things.”
- LotiMcFloti believes: “This is a very disappointing hotfix. I thought they would improve a lot more things.”
- Vorgarian comments: “Good to hear something about hotfixes and bug fixes.”
So there is still a lot to be done before Empyrean runs smoothly. But the update for Warframe shows a lot of potential and could, according to the community’s opinion, become very good once the bugs are fixed.
