A major innovation from the new season Path of Exile: Mirage is the new Atlas system, but players are not satisfied with it.
What has changed in the system? The Atlas system is the entry point to the endgame of Path of Exile. With the new changes from the season Mirage, the developers have simplified the ways to fill the Atlas.
While previously players had to find each individual map by luck, the developers have changed the system so that players now just need to find a blank map with a tier level and transform it into a selected map in the new Atlas system. Unlike before, players can now simply determine which map they want to play.
This allows players to complete the Atlas faster and no longer spend so long searching for the last missing map. However, the new system also has its weaknesses.

What bothers the players? In a new post on Reddit, players express their frustration about the new system. While the fundamental idea of the improved Atlas is positively highlighted by players, there is much criticism of the new design.
Fans joke in the post that the new Atlas was designed by developers, not designers, because “the map device is an abomination.” Reddit user NckyDC describes it this way:
This device that appears, disappears, and moves – having to search for maps each time, squint your eyes, and think about how it works is simply an extremely bad user experience.
Technically, the new system works perfectly, but it does not provide a good experience for users.
What do players wish for? Players are clear: The system needs to be improved. Sometimes it is small details that disturb players. They write on Reddit:
- fdegen: “The extra click that has been added between whether to just place a map or put it where you want it. That bothers me so much”
- lepsek9: “If we could just favorite/pin a single map that opens automatically…”
- Lancestrike: “Plug in a controller, you will find that it’s even worse there.”
- Educational-Ruin9992: “Had to look up how to make a map when I tried it for the first time. I’m not a smart man, and GGG takes advantage of that.”
If the developers improve the system with a patch, it could lift the mood in the community again, because about two weeks after the launch of the new season, most players are probably now at the Atlas System.
Path of Exile: Mirage was really well received by players. The season was positively received by fans, and the fact that the biggest problem is a bad user interface shows that things are going quite well. Only one issue is causing frustration, especially in Europe: Path of Exile is being attacked by hackers, and now the developers reveal how bad it is
