Baldur’s Gate 3 allows its players to engage in romances with various NPCs. Currently, many fans are still hoping to kiss the villain voiced by Lucius Malfoy. But Larian has made clear statements.
Warning, Spoilers: This is about a character who makes his debut in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Which character are we talking about? The character that many fans wish for as a romance option is none other than one of the three main villains from Baldur’s Gate 3: Enver Gortash.
Gortash is one of the masterminds behind the events in the game. Together with Orin the Red and Ketheric Thorm, he forms the top of the cult of the Absolute. He is the chosen one of Bane, the god of darkness, tyranny, hatred, and conflict.
He first appears at the end of Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, the player only learns more about him in Act 3, as they head towards Baldur’s Gate.

A romance with the villain? Larian says, Babygirl has no time for kissing
What does Larian say about it? Players have repeatedly informed Larian Studios via social media how much they desire a romance with Gortash. They have now addressed the topic directly in their latest community update:
[…]But will we be able to kiss Gortash,we hear you plead,we want to kiss Gortash.Listen, he is a complicated guy who is very busy considering the details of the death cult’s bureaucratic politics. Babygirl has no time to kiss.
Larian Studios via Steam, 16.07.2024
This likely puts the hopes for a late, added romance with Gortash to rest once and for all. After all, Larian Studios has previously yielded to fan desires: The romance with the druid Halsin and the infamous bear sex scene only came about because players liked the character so much.
Why do players want to romance him? At first glance, Gortash does not seem like a character who would make fans’ hearts race. reddit user MxCrosswords questions in a post why people are so into him.
One main reason according to the comments below is the voice actor: Jason Isaacs. The actor is known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, as well as for playing Captain Hook in Peter Pan (2003). Those who have seen The Patriot know him as Col. William Tavington.
Therefore, players who like Jason Isaacs partially project this onto the character he voices.
Here is a post from an example Gortash fan:
reddit user jayk1406 adds that the interest does not come so much from Gortash’s appearance, but much more from his story with the origin character Dark Urge.
Others simply mention that they like the aesthetic of an updated, over-caffeinated man with eyeliner from a week ago, a dark past, and real respect for their character, Dark Urge. On top of that comes his charm, intelligence, and everything he represents as one of the three main villains.
The community post addressing the Gortash topic introduces the new features and adjustments of Patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, it contains much more than just rejected romance wishes: Baldur’s Gate 3 introduces Patch 7, bringing many features that practically force you to return
