Borderlands 3 has received its 3rd DLC. This time it takes players to the Wild West and the community is excited about the atmosphere in the expansion. We at MeinMMO want to share some reactions with you.
What is this DLC about? Borderlands 3 received a new update on June 25, including the 3rd DLC. It is called “Blood Money” or “Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption” and takes place in a western atmosphere. Here you can do some crazy new things, just like you would expect from Borderlands.

Atmosphere, Music, Characters – a coherent DLC
All aspects contributing to a good feeling seem to be taken into account in the new DLC. This includes the atmosphere. The transition from the normal setting to the new Borderlands Wild West comes across well, without losing charm. Of course, wild shootouts and a saloon are also part of it.

In the video, you also get a sense of the soundtrack. It excites fans and contributes incredibly to the atmosphere. It features everything from calm strings to harder drum passages.
Another contribution to the feeling comes from the characters. Even the first NPC you meet is very popular. This is about Rose, a tough western lady.
I hope that we will see Rose again and that she might even become a playable character.

The dialogues with the characters are entertaining and this time even a bit more serious. Although humor is one of the things that define Borderlands, less of it seems to be a refreshing change from the usual content.
The villains this time are the Devil Riders. A typical western gang that you will seek revenge against during the story.
The narrator in the new DLC also contributes to the feeling. He even reacts to some things you do in the game. His voice and manner of speaking fit well into the setting.
The narrator was such a good addition. He reminded me of the good old Borderlands 1 with Angel, but without that visual thing.

Angel was a siren in Borderlands 1 who guided you through the story. A picture of her face was always displayed. The current DLC does without such a visual impression.
What’s the catch?
However, not everything is smooth in the new DLC. Many complain that the story is too short:
There are 3 large zones and that’s it. Seems quite short to me, especially compared to the last two DLCs.

If you focus only on the story line, the fun lasts about 2 hours. However, with all side missions, you can spend around 8 hours there.
Additionally, some characters seem to have been underdeveloped. Especially for Rose, who has already gained many fans, players would have liked to see more.
