It should actually be the greatest achievement in Diablo Immortal when one becomes Immortal. However, some players now report that they would rather forgo this honor. They even intentionally lose the decision battle. The “mob” simply does it better.
What kind of battle is this? In Diablo Immortal, the 2 factions of Shadows and Immortals are constantly fighting against each other. In the eternal “cycle of conflict,” they continuously test who is suitable to protect and govern the world.
This is where the “kings” are crowned, who are constantly challenged by the “mob” to ensure that they are truly the best. The conflict culminates in an epic 30-vs-1 battle that few get to see in which the leader of the Immortals becomes a real raid boss with special abilities.
Immortal should actually be the highest aspiration of all players. However, there are doubts about whether it is truly that desirable. Because the Immortals seem to have it not so good.
In our video, we explain more about the cycle of conflict and everything you need to know about Diablo Immortal – in 3 minutes:
This is what players say: In a thread on reddit, a player explains that he left the faction of the Immortals before the end of the reign. There is simply a lack of the loot raid that Shadows can regularly participate in.
He lacks candidate keys, gold, and experience. The legacy of the Horadrim can hardly be continued because resources are missing. The events that Immortals receive instead of the loot raid are no substitute for the absence of Legendary items and so on. Additionally, there is another problem:
Your pool of available players drops to below 300. This means finding a group becomes infinitely harder, especially on slower servers like the one I play on. I understand that you can still use the dungeon finder, but with the cross-server messages that are slowly sneaking in, hardly anyone does that anymore. Posting in world chat is also an option, but not ideal.
Many players have a problem finding groups in Diablo Immortal and are thus excluded from progress. The user receives agreement from dozens of other players, some of whom even say: We intentionally lost. Just to be able to become Shadows again.
The biggest problem is that the system of the Immortals is based on stacking special bonuses, meaning progress can only truly be made on certain days. On all other days, there is stagnation.
Others report a rather elitist mindset. One feels compelled to contribute – otherwise, one will be kicked out of the guild by the leader. This causes clans to empty because no new members can join, and eventually nothing will work anymore.
“Immortal needs a revision”
This is why players prefer Shadows: According to players, the daily tasks of the Shadows are more enjoyable to complete, especially for casual players. The contracts can be completed alongside other activities like dungeons.
They have to work less to keep a good reward at the end of the week. While Immortals actually receive a much larger reward, there are a few bad apples that can undermine everything:
Additionally, Immortals receive a huge raid, Kion’s Test, as compensation. This is designed for 48 players – but can only be completed by 48 selected players.
Ideally, Immortals should rotate so that everyone benefits. However, this is not happening. Players are therefore calling for a revision of the tasks of the Immortals to make them a little smoother to play.
There are numerous players who have been both Shadows and Immortals. We spoke with one who has been playing every day since release and asked him what he thinks of the system:
