In Zenless Zone Zero, an update caused agents to disappear when players tried to look under their skirts. This caused an uproar in the community – and the developers backtracked.
Zenless Zone Zero is the latest game by HoYoverse, the studio behind the successful action RPG Genshin Impact, following Honkai Star Rail. On December 18, the developers released update version 1.4. This led to a significant outcry from the community.
Later that afternoon, the developers announced in a post on X that they had been monitoring the feedback. They wanted to respond promptly to the comments. One feedback point concerned the female agents in Zenless Zone Zero and a faulty portrayal when viewed from a specific angle. Or specifically: when players looked under their skirts.
Agent disappears at a specific camera angle
What was faulty? In update version 1.4, the Patch Notes specifically state: “From certain angles, the agent appears faded.” This adjustment apparently caused the agents in Zenless Zone Zero to completely disappear instead.
In a post on X, you can see a short video about this:
“Worrying change”
What was the players’ feedback? In a Reddit post, a user described the change in update version 1.4 as “worrying.” The post has gathered over 3,300 upvotes. Some commented that the change “ruined” their day. Others posted screenshots of their agents, who were only seen as faded from that angle. Speculations ranged from possible censorship regulations to the idea that scenes without the agents might be better presented.
What was changed then? On X, the developers announced on December 18 that they have “responded promptly to the received feedback.” This also included adjustments to the agents when viewed from a specific angle.
The post states: “Fixed an issue in version 1.4, where the fading effect of the setting ‘Agent appears faded when viewed from certain angles’ was not displayed correctly under certain circumstances.”

The change that the developers announced on X has been well-received. Users commented that they are glad that such a quick response is being made.
In another game, characters often focus on revealing skins and “jiggle physics.” But one character now sends a clear message: Those who try to look under her skirt will get a strong reprimand.
