Currently, those trying to reach the customer support of WoW Classic are greeted with wait times of over a month. Players have been complaining about this situation for weeks. The first to receive replies are extremely dissatisfied with them.
What is the problem? Those who wish to report a bug, an issue, or an obviously unintended strong item in WoW Classic usually write a ticket to support. There, the issue is processed and forwarded.
However, those currently reporting an issue in WotLK Classic have to expect long wait times. On reddit, users report waiting between 30 and 55 days, which has been the case since the expansion’s release on September 27.
At the beginning of an expansion, it is normal for the number of tickets to be higher, as there are more new players and potentially more problems to solve. However, WotLK Classic is still in this state a month and a half later. In the meantime, the first 3 raids have even appeared, which are likely to lead to even more tickets.
You can see the rush on WotLK directly at the release:
Why players are upset: A player reports waiting the full time for a response. The reply was just an automated message with links to the forum (via reddit). The ticket itself was then archived, so the player can no longer respond.
Another player reports the same, having waited even 40 days for their ticket. This issue keeps appearing on reddit, where users complain about the wait times.
Moreover, it is not even WotLK Classic’s fault; the wait times have been this long since Burning Crusade. A player notes that this is exactly why they have stopped playing (via reddit).
Tickets answered only after over 30 days – What’s going on?
Does it really take that long? We created a ticket for testing (and closed it immediately to avoid burdening support further). The wait time should be over 33 days.
In the community, players are reporting wait times of up to 55 days, showing screenshots of the relevant notification. The wait times are therefore quite plausible.
Why does it take so long? In Blizzard’s replies, they mention an “increased volume” of tickets, which is causing the processing time to be extended. WotLK Classic now has more active players than WoW Classic ever did, and Overwatch 2 and the pre-patch for WoW Dragonflight featuring many of the expansion’s features were released relatively simultaneously. It is probably leading to an disproportionately high number of tickets.
However, fans suspect several reasons behind this. They speculate that Blizzard is either prioritizing differently and limiting customer service in favor of development work or simply employing fewer support staff. Whether this is true, we cannot say yet. MeinMMO asked Blizzard directly for the reasons, but a response is still pending.
MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus hopes that the situation will improve soon. Because WotLK Classic is his “feel-good” WoW, and he is really looking forward to Dragonflight:
For 12 years, WoW has been dying, but now Blizzard is doing (almost) everything right again
