Bots are a problem in New World, especially when it comes to gathering resources. However, players have found a new and very creative way to protect their hemp in open fields from bots.
What have the players done? They have built their tents on the routes of the bots to permanently trap them. This way, the bot cannot continue its route and gets stuck in auto-run near the tents.
It looks incredibly funny and is also a very creative solution, as it is difficult to deal with bots when farming hemp.
- Bots that collect ores in mountainous areas can be easily pushed off cliffs so they cannot reach the ore.
- Fishing bots can easily be killed by nearby monsters.
But around the hemp spots in Windkreis, which are excellent for leveling harvesting skills, there are neither cliffs nor many monsters. This makes it hard to hinder them in their work.
The reddit user RammarasFTW took a picture of how they cornered a bot with several tents, so it couldn’t even move backward. He is particularly proud of having returned hemp to the players.
Also, the user TheCanabalisticBambi has defended against bots this way. He shared a video where a bot was captured by him and his friends.
What is the catch of this creative solution? The tents only stay up as long as players are logged in and do not build a new tent. However, once something is built elsewhere or the player logs out, the bot regains its freedom.
Botters offer coins for real money
Why are bots such a problem? As in many other MMOs, bots roam around collecting important resources to sell them at the trading post. The coins obtained are often used to sell them for real money on dubious websites.
Since the economy in New World is currently struggling and for some players it is even too expensive to pay taxes and rents for their houses in cities, some might resort to buying coins for real money. However, this is prohibited according to the Terms of Service.
Nevertheless, a “professional industry” has already formed around boosting characters or selling coins for real money. Many players are therefore demanding intervention from Amazon, but they are also resorting to humorous methods of self-justice. More on this here:
