There are quite a few quirky stories about Mordhau and the community continues to surprise with absurd ideas. The latest nonsense is related to the coronavirus, which some players are making a rather unique commentary on.
What are the players up to? A small group around the Twitch streamer and YouTuber “Stay in the grave” has taken it upon themselves to enforce controls for the coronavirus and quarantines in Mordhau.
Using the class editor that allows building various strong builds, the players have crafted a hazmat suit outfit: bright yellow “hazmat suits” and modern gas masks, likely introduced into the game via a mod.
They then play together in these suits, engaging with various levels of the current and real threat playfully in Mordhau. We have embedded the complete video of the action here:
Different Stages of Isolation
The first stage they call “testing”. With their suits and various gestures, a drawn crossbow, and kicks, they push the players being controlled into a quarantine zone made of wooden shields. There they are then “examined”.
Those who test positive receive a bolt to the eye. Those who test negative … apparently also do. The video doesn’t make this clear, as all victims die from fists or arrows.
The second stage is the lockdown, which is also happening in many cities currently. They barricade themselves with pavises on roofs or in towers and prevent opponents from reaching them – sometimes with heavy stones that they deliberately throw at heads.
The last stage is the “Last Stand”, where they lure others into traps alone or in pairs to cleverly bring them to their graves. From here the video loses some focus on Corona, but remains quite entertaining. Let someone say again, the Mordhau community is only toxic.
How is the action received?
On YouTube, the video has barely any views, but the corresponding thread on reddit already has over 1000 upvotes. It is thus one of the most popular threads in the Mordhau subreddit.
The streamer offers the corresponding builds for anyone who wants to join on his Discord. Stay in the grave is praised as a “legend”. Apparently, the videos are a welcome distraction from the coronavirus and an alternative to playing MMOs.
