It’s not Halloween yet, but many players are currently being startled by a creepy sound in their lobby in CoD MW2. What sound is meant and what it’s all about can be found out here.
What kind of sound is it? In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, many players were spooked in their lobbies. The reason is a very intrusive and disturbing breathing sound that could only be heard while waiting in their lobby. If you haven’t heard about the sound yet, we will show you a recording of it here:
Many fans were left with mixed feelings when they heard this breathing sound for the first time. Here’s how players reacted on YouTube:

While many fans are freaking out, there are also some who are asking how to turn this off and why the sound is there at all.
Players suspect Shredder is to blame, but it’s just a bug
Who’s breathing down your neck? The community has started to speculate (via Reddit.com) about why someone is breathing so intrusively down your neck. Some players suspect it might be related to the new skin pack “Shredder”. This was recently added to the shop in Season 2 and can now be purchased for 2400 CoD-Coins.
Shredder is a character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and plays a central role as a supervillain. It was therefore conceivable that Infinity Ward included a small detail to coincide with its release. However, the reason is quite simple. It is merely a simple bug.
Infinity Ward clarifies: The developers behind CoD Modern Warfare 2 maintain a Trello board where many known or new bugs are listed. Among them is the breathing bug that now bothers some players. It’s not quite clear how the bug is triggered. It’s possible that a flaw with the snipers causes the breathing or aiming file to activate in the lobby as well.
