Baldur’s Gate 3 players share which NPCs they appreciate and why they won’t turn to evil. MeinMMO reveals what it’s all about.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that fills the relationships between players and their companions and other NPCs with emotions. In this game, you have the opportunity to make moral decisions and interact with a variety of characters on your adventure. These interactions can influence your path, whether in a good
or evil
direction.

If you want to fully immerse yourself in the role of a rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3, a playthrough as an Dark Urge
can be a rewarding experience.
However, this means putting some of the most beloved NPCs in the game in danger, and that can be quite hard to bear if you are attached to them. A good example of this is the recruitment process of Minthara, which requires you to slaughter the Druid Grove and all Tieflings.
However, there are some NPCs that are so beloved that they prevent players from making evil decisions.
Beloved NPCs: Why players in Baldur’s Gate 3 resist evil
What do the players say? For a player named Peg-Lemac, the Tieflings Dammon and Doni have a special significance, as he shares on Reddit. Despite efforts to start an evil playthrough, Peg-Lemac keeps finding himself restarting the game because he cannot bear to lose these characters.
Other players also share which NPCs are particularly dear to them and keep them from making evil decisions (via Reddit):
- bumpercarbustier writes:
Zevlor. I can’t do that to him. None of the Tieflings, really, but his pain drives me crazy.
- Some players have a weakness for Shadowheart, Rogen80 emphasizes:
[…] I can’t watch as Shar abducts and brainwashes an innocent girl and tortures her parents for 40 years just because they follow another goddess.
- Reza-Temiz adds:
Rolan and Arabella – my heart needs them in every playthrough.
- SolitarySoul2021:
Alfira – She’s precious. […] The Tiefling couple – I can’t bear it when one of them is separated from the other. […]
- yeuchc22 writes:
For me, it’s Lady Aylin and Isobel. […] I guess I will never play a Dark Urge run aligned with Shar. Well.
- TwistedJasper:
Halsin. I can’t break his heart. He was my first (and only) romance for my first run. I love that bear.
grisseusossa is attached to Astarion and Karlach, here is the explanation:
Karlach and Astarion. Both deserve a good Tav or Durge [Dark Urge] – Karlach because she’s just such a good person and that kind of kindness deserves to be rewarded with even more kindness, and Astarion, because at least since his time as Cazador’s slave, he hasn’t had good people in his life. He deserves to experience something good in his life as well.

While there are players who may be tempted to choose the dark path, it is precisely the connections to characters like Dammon, Doni, Zevlor, and Shadowheart that keep them from doing so.
These companions and NPCs are the heart of the player experience, and their stories touch us in a way that makes it hard for many to give in to evil.
