Destiny 2 offers a series-like narrative with its Seasons that continues every week. However, there is one mechanic that players cannot stand.
What’s the problem? Destiny 2 provides its story with profound moments and exciting cinematics revealed week after week. For this reason, many Guardians log in weekly just to get more information about the continuation of events.
So far so good, but there has been a significant downside since the switch to the Season Pass, which is the storytelling of the story’s ending for each season. This is currently revealed always a week before the start of a new season. It wouldn’t be that dramatic if players didn’t have to wait almost a whole month for this time.
This frustrates many players, and even Paul Tassi from Forbes mentions that this situation leaves a yawning gap in the story, as if one were to wait a month to see the end of a movie.
The new season model destroys the suspense for the story
What do the players say? They are not pleased about it. Basically, this not only dampens the desire for the story but also reduces the suspense, as many things fall flat due to this storytelling gap.
Paul Tassi also points out that because of this system, there can be neither new teasers nor advertisements for new seasons, since they would spoil the story in Destiny 2. Thus, it has a counterproductive effect and creates no hype for upcoming content that players might look forward to.

Will there be changes to the season system? Not for now. The team is only engaging with teasers and minor spoilers during major DLC showcases. No changes are planned for seasons. Furthermore, the large gap in the story allows players to focus on other things in Destiny 2 or other games while still feeling the urge to log in to the loot shooter from time to time to get news.
