The debate surrounding major releases and their prices is becoming increasingly loud, especially when it comes to GTA 6. While expectations for the game are rising, so are fans’ concerns that the title could be sold for a price of €100.
Why is the price of GTA 6 so important? While many fans are growing excited for GTA 6, some fear that at release, the developers at Rockstar Games might charge €100 for it. This could also lead to other titles using this price as a benchmark in the future and increasing their prices over time.
So far, the open-world shooter cannot be pre-ordered yet, but speculations about the possible price are circulating widely. The magic number of €100 has now also reached the CEO of Take Two, who explains how Rockstar Games sets its prices.

“The goal is to provide more value than what is paid”
How are prices determined? The CEO of “GTA 6” publisher Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, does not yet mention a price for GTA 6, but instead explains how prices are determined at Rockstar Games.
“Pricing is done in the context of each individual release. We have relied on variable pricing for a long time now. And as I said before, we want to focus on the added value. Our goal is to provide the consumer with significantly more value than they pay for it. That is our mission. We must fulfill this mission – our focus is not on what the maximum price might be,” he says (via videotechuk on X.com).
Further, Strauss Zelnick explains: “Our goal is to create the best entertainment in the world and make it accessible to every consumer, wherever they are. And to achieve that, we need to provide added value.”
Referring to the new Mafia game, which will cost only €50, he adds: “We think it is exceptional. It looks incredible, and we want to get it into as many hands as possible” (via Gamesradar). Regarding GTA 6, he makes it clear that the game will virtually sell itself: “When you land a hit that everyone wants and buys, then the revenue takes care of itself,” says Zelnick.
How expensive will GTA 6 be? The CEO has not confirmed that GTA 6 will cost €100, but he has not denied it either. However, the fact that the new Mafia game will only cost €50 and is mentioned in this context could indicate that GTA 6 will not be triple digits. The head also believes that the delay of GTA 6 will be worth it: The head of GTA 6 emphasizes that the delay was a “worthwhile investment”, development is said to have started in 2020.
