Destiny 2 has introduced a lot of new lore with Forsaken. One of the small stories found on the Titan class item from the raid revolves around Mara Sov, a wish, and a rather perplexed Lord Shaxx.
To the delight of the Guardians, the first Destiny 2 expansion Forsaken brought a wealth of new lore into the game, which can be collected on items and in triumphs. One of the small stories located on the Titan class item from the raid “Last Wish” is currently fueling the imagination of players.

Mara Sov, a wish, and a reciting Shaxx
What does the lore tell? The story revolves around Mara Sov, Queen of the Awoken, getting bored and expressing a wish for her amusement. This includes the appearance of Lord Shaxx, who normally oversees the Crucible, and a piece of Shakespeare.
Mara stared at the Wall of Wishes. She had no more business to conduct. Her plans were set in motion.
There was nothing left to do but wait.
She drew a pistol from a hidden holster and fired a dozen shots into the wall.
The cosmic balance shifted. Somewhere in the Dreaming City, Riven heard the Queen’s wish, and a thousand screeching rifts in reality sliced through the space in front of her.
Lord Shaxx suddenly blocked Mara’s view of the wall.
“—YES, AND WE WOULD ALL BE DEAD!” He shouted at no one in particular, a cup of coffee in his fist.
He startled and nearly spilled his coffee. “Where are we?”
Mara knocked the cup from his hand. It shattered on the floor. She held a tattered book in front of him. “I told you there would come a time when I would collect your debts from the Reef War. Read this aloud.”
“No one gives me orders,” he said, grabbing the book and setting it ablaze with a Titan’s strike. “I can recite ‘The Tempest’ from memory.” And he did. Mara sat down and listened. They stayed that way for a long time.
The helm was not removed.
Why does the lore entry make players laugh? At first glance, the lore entry appears to be a strange yet completely normal story. However, some players interpret other meanings into it.
While lore enthusiasts debate what William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” could have to do with the story of Destiny, other players believe that more was going on between Mara and Shaxx that night than just reciting old classics.
Especially the last line “The helm was not removed” is seen as a reference to the song “You Can Leave Your Hat On.” Not least due to the film “9 ½ Weeks,” the song became an epitome of striptease.
