In Diablo 2 Resurrected, there are protests from players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It is said that Diablo 2 is unplayable in its current form. Blizzard must now take the path of Cyberpunk 2077 and remove the game from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. Apparently, over the weekend, from October 15 to 17, a patch that was released only for PC was missing.
This is the situation:
- Blizzard currently has some issues with Diablo 2 Resurrected. In a long post, a community manager explained the difficulties: Essentially, the server structure of Diablo 2 Resurrected is not designed for players to start new games, kill a boss, close the game, and immediately start a new one.
- To mitigate the problems, Blizzard has decided to introduce queues in Diablo 2. This was implemented in a patch on Friday – but only for PC.
- However, these circumstances caused significant problems on consoles over the weekend.
Diablo 2 was unplayable for many console players over the weekend
This is now the problem: Over the weekend, players on consoles PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Switch could apparently not play Diablo 2 Resurrected at all or only very limited.
On reddit, users say: Players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 simply received an error message when trying to log in to the servers. Only occasionally did one get lucky and get through.
Apparently, Blizzard must first deploy a patch to make Diablo 2 Resurrected playable again. The PC patch that was released on Friday only arrived on PlayStation 4 early Monday morning. (via blizzard). A patch is also expected for the other consoles – but for the Nintendo Switch, it will only come once the previous patch has been approved and deployed.
During the weekend, there was a lot of frustration among players.
This is the demand: On reddit, users who could not play over the weekend write: It is outrageous to sell a game that is just not playable.
One user says: This is not a purchase at the moment but a theft.
Blizzard must now take the path of CD Projekt Red with Cyberpunk 2077 and remove Diablo 2 from the console stores of Sony and Microsoft.
However, with Cyberpunk 2077, it was not the developer who removed the game from the shops, but Sony who pulled the game from the shop.
Overall, the mood among many players who publicly express themselves is currently negative: Blizzard is accused of having simply rolled out “outdated software” without thinking it through.
So writes MeinMMO reader dheimos (via mein-mmo):
“Wait a minute … Queues? LOL. This can’t be true. You would set up more servers or boost the tech … this is really crazy.”
There are also some players who say: They would only play Diablo 2 offline and are having an extreme amount of fun. They advise online players to be patient.
Now, there is hope that the problem from the weekend will resolve itself with the patch that came on Monday morning for the PS4 and is announced for the other consoles. The patch should bring queues when servers are overloaded.
