With the new Season 2025, Riot wanted to bring fresh changes to League of Legends. However, some of these were not well received by the community. In the second patch of the year, they address the feedback and modify 2 new features.
What did the players criticize? With the first patch in January, the new season Welcome to Noxus
was launched. Alongside classic buffs and nerfs and a new map, several new features were added to the MOBA.
One of the most controversial changes was the new Battle Pass structure. This made it harder to unlock new champions. The blue essences decreased significantly, and the community criticized that.
In the latest Patch 25.S1.2, they take player feedback into account and increase the earning of the currency.
There are significantly more blue essences again
What will be changed? Riot is adjusting the amount of blue essences that can be obtained from the Battle Pass. Almost twice as many blue essences will be available in the next Battle Pass. However, this will only start with Act 2.
- From Act 2: Instead of 4750 blue essences, there will be a total of 9000 blue essences available for free in the pass
- From Act 2: Instead of a champion capsule, there will be a Glorious Champion Capsule in the pass
- To compensate for the pass from Act 1, there will be 4250 blue essences through a simple mission (this is supposed to go live with this patch and be available until the end of Act 1)
- From this patch: The blue essences per pass level after level 50 will increase from 50 to 750
- From this patch, you will gain 40% more account experience
In a blog post on the official website, Riot had addressed this earlier and admitted that they made a mistake. With the new changes, Riot also shows a table indicating that players can even earn up to 22.28% more blue essences with the upcoming changes than in the previous Season 2024.
What else is coming with the new patch? The big highlight of the patch is the new champion Mel Medarda, who is already known from Arcane. Due to her abilities as a mage, she is expected to be seen as a supporter or midlaner.
Another important change involves the Feats of Strength. If a team achieves 2 out of 3 feats, there will be buffed versions of the boots. One of the achievements is First Blood, that is, the first kill. This has been criticized by many players. The achievement will now be removed and replaced. Instead of the first kill, the first team to reach 3 kills in total will receive one of the 3 feats.
Another criticism of the new season has not been addressed yet. Players miss the old Hextech chests that could be obtained for free to get skins. Players are demanding their return, even under trailers that have nothing to do with this: LoL proudly showcases 4 new skins, but players say: You can keep those
