In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, new patches are released at least weekly to improve the shooter. However, the last update likely introduced a nasty input lag into the game, which could affect many actions.
What is the problem? With the last major patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from February 19, a small issue seems to have slipped in that can have annoying effects.
This appears to involve an “input lag,” which means a slight delay in executing certain actions. When such a delay occurs, the game may no longer perform the action correctly, interrupt it, or only partially carry it out.
Movement seems to be particularly affected, but the reload animation can also sometimes be disrupted. Players have been complaining about possible input lags for a while now; there are many threads in the MW subreddit about it. However, this level of issue would be something new, and players are increasingly calling for the developers’ help.
Update possibly brought serious bugs, support responds
What might this look like? On Reddit, “Zachs_Drunk” shared a video showing how he fails to climb onto one of the “Docks” vehicles.
Climbing onto objects was already a problem at the start of Modern Warfare, but it has improved. Players suspect that this issue is not a direct problem with movement, but rather that an input lag is preventing the correct climbing animation from occurring.
The thread on Reddit is quite small, but players with similar issues have already chimed in, not just regarding climbing. “rbfubar” mentions, “This has been happening since the last update. There’s an input lag for tactical grenades, sprinting, and climbing on objects. Strange reload delays. I don’t know. The game is a joke.”.
Could it be something else? The problems only recently appeared and have not been extensively investigated so far. Whether it is indeed a problem with input transmission or if the animations themselves might be causing the issues remains to be seen.
Regardless of what it is, as long as certain animations are affected, it harms the fairness of the game, and the developers should respond quickly. They have already proven that sometimes it can be done in record time.

Can we expect a fix? In the thread, the “Activision Support” account already responded and asked for more details about the issue. According to the post, support seems to lean more towards a movement issue, but at least the video seems to have been acknowledged officially.
On the Trello board for Modern Warfare, there is currently no entry regarding this. Here, developers post major bugs/glitches they are currently working on.
The next update arrives on February 25 and will again bring new modes to the playlist, but we will likely have to wait longer for a fix for this issue. Perhaps even longer than for the new Battle Royale, which could be released soon.
