In Destiny 2, players have calculated that they cannot complete a two-year-old quest in time, even if they grind for 2 months. Therefore, they are asking Bungie to change something.
This is the quest: Those who want to show off in Destiny 2 proudly display a title next to their gamertag. This way, other Guardians can see in the social hub, in PvP, or during raids what they have achieved and in which area they are exceptional.
These name additions are tied to much grinding or extremely difficult tasks. The Chronicle title, for example, requires players to collect story fragments and other collectibles throughout the universe. It is meant to reward players who know the convoluted story and lore of Destiny like the back of their hand.
This is causing frustration now: The Chronicler title will soon no longer be obtainable. The deadline is November 10, which means there are still almost 2 months left.
With the release of the Beyond Light expansion, numerous changes are coming to Destiny 2. Among other things, almost half of the game (for now) will be taken out of active service – making room for new content.
However, even if you started today and grinded for 2 months, the title would be unattainable for you. The tasks on the way to becoming the story king are not actually difficult, just true time sinks.
You can only get an entry in the lore book “From Truth to Power” once every 3 weeks in the Queen’s Throne Room in the Dreaming City. Since there are 11 entries, it is simply not feasible to collect them all before the title disappears with the launch of the DLC.
Do Destiny players want everything given to them?
After the news about the lost race against time spread in the community, calls were made for Bungie to make the lore book either available to everyone or to remove it as a requirement for the Chronicle title.
This is how Bungie responds: Bungie’s Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffner spoke out against the furious aspiring Chroniclers on Twitter. However, he relayed this news to them:
He stated: Currently, there are no plans to change this ritual [the 3-week cycle] or the acquisition of these lore entries. This means that the Chronicler title could be out of reach for some players.
This is curious: Do suddenly all want to become Chroniclers? No, probably not. The excitement rather reflects the Fomo aspect – the fear of missing out on something. Those who truly valued the title could have been collecting the required lore entries for 2 years.
Now, players have effectively been deprived of the choice to obtain the title in the next 2 months.
