For the upcoming Season 7, there will be a lot of nerfs in Destiny 2. Many players are now demanding: If Bungie is in a nerf mood, they should also weaken or remove this unpopular boss mechanic.
That is why many players complain about nerfs: On June 4th, the new Season 7, the Season of Opulence starts in Destiny 2. However, there will not only be fresh content for the Guardians, but also numerous nerfs to popular weapons and gear – much to the dismay of some fans.

This is what many fans are now demanding: Even though many are currently complaining about the upcoming nerfs, there is one nerf that many Guardians are now demanding themselves.
If the developers are already swinging the nerf hammer for the new season, then fans want them to nerf one of the most annoying boss mechanics as well – the so-called Boss Stomp.
This “nerf” has been continuously demanded by fans for some time now, but with the current nerf discussion, this topic has now boiled over again. The most popular thread on this topic has over 5,800 upvotes on reddit and receives broad agreement in the comments.
It is no wonder that this mechanic serves as a template for many Destiny memes:
What is the deal with the Boss Stomp? The Boss Stomp is considered by fans to be one of the most annoying boss mechanics in Destiny 2. The boss stomps the ground when a Guardian approaches within a certain radius.
This can either instantly kill you or at least cause you to lose a large part of your health. Additionally, you are often thrown several meters into the air and may die upon impact with an obstacle – regardless of whether you are hiding, standing against a wall, or in the midst of an active super.
What annoys many Guardians about the Boss Stomp: Whether in a strike, raid, or other activities – the vast majority of bosses use this knockback mechanic. Even numerous enemy majors make use of this effect, including Vex Hydras – and they don’t even have legs.
This makes it nearly impossible to approach most bosses or high-ranking enemies, or to hide near them in between. Entire weapon classes, such as swords or shotguns, become absolutely useless in many boss encounters, many fans say.
For example, if you tackled the raid boss Aksis in “Wrath of the Machines” with the Dark Drinker sword or sent numerous strike bosses to the virtual afterlife with the Deicide, you will search in vain for such moments in Destiny 2. Although swords in Destiny 2 need a lot more love, removing or weakening this mechanic would already be the most important step.
Fans amuse themselves over their demand: Even though really many fans have been calling for a change for a long time and many have even submitted their own thoughtful concepts for adapting this mechanic – the chances of a change are considered low.
Bungie has not commented on this matter so far. However, almost all corresponding threads are filled with sarcastic comments from fans. Here are just a few of them:

- “Bungie has heard you. All weapons will now be nerfed to match swords.”
- “Thank you for your feedback, Guardians. A thousand voices and Perfected Outbreak will be nerfed to sword level in the next patch”
