Space issues are a major concern for many players in Diablo 4. In Season 7, Blizzard addresses this criticism and revamps at least one item group that clutters your stash.
Which items are being addressed? For Season 7, Blizzard is revamping the compasses for the hell hordes. Currently, they are not stackable and sit side by side in stash tabs and in the inventory. This takes up a lot of space when you have collected a few.
Why collect them? With the compasses, you “open” the Hell Hordes activity in the endgame of Diablo 4, so they function similarly to seals for nightmare dungeons. While you could craft them yourself in Season 5, you can now only obtain them as drops. This will apparently remain the case for now, but the drop rates will also be adjusted.
On Reddit, players regularly complain about the lack of stash space. SpareTheRod1976 writes on November 21 in a post: “Please, please! Give us more stash tabs. For heaven’s sake: Make [the compasses] either stackable by wave count and/or craftable, as it was in the previous season.”
The world tiers have also been frequently criticized by the Diablo 4 community. Blizzard has revised them and introduced new difficulty levels:
Compasses are stackable starting from Season 7
What changes are being made to the items? In the patch notes for the upcoming PTR, Blizzard explains what they want to change about the compasses. This includes that they will be stackable starting from Season 7. You will also obtain them from a new chest from the “Whispering Tree”.
The specific changes are:
- Compasses now stack depending on their level. The maximum stack size is 99.
- The drop rate of hell compasses will be adjusted.
- The drop chance from large hell flood chests will be increased.
- The drop chance from whispering chests, small hell flood chests, in nightmare dungeons, and in the pit will be decreased.
- From the new “Collection Keys” chest, you will receive 3 hell compasses and 3 seals for nightmare dungeons.
The old compasses will then turn into “broken compasses” from which you can craft random compasses.
Does this solve the space issues? The compasses occupy a large portion of the loot chest when collected. However, there are still other items that take up space. In a post on Reddit, players recall when the tabs were still full of gems and aspects.
You now collect gems in fragments as materials, but no longer in your inventory. And aspects go directly into the Codex of Power when dismantling since Season 4. Now the runes are said to be the “new aspects,” writes Osteinum on Reddit.
Whether Blizzard will adjust more items or add stash tabs remains unclear. The PTR starts on Tuesday, December 3rd. In the public test realm, you will then be able to test the new content coming with Season 7 in Diablo 4. In the upcoming test, you will have the opportunity to try out seasonal content for the first time. This includes the new powers of witchcraft that represent the season mechanic: Diablo 4 powers of witchcraft: How the mechanics work in Season 7
