High prices for hardware challenge not only gamers but also manufacturers. The company Zotac now explains in a statement how serious the situation really is. And Zotac emphasizes that the worst is yet to come.
Those looking to buy new hardware for their computer are currently confronted with high prices: Not only the prices for RAM but also for graphics cards and SSDs have been continuously rising for weeks.
The rising prices are primarily attributed to AI companies. A major graphics card manufacturer, Zotac, has now issued a statement in its Korean shop stating that this may not be the end of high prices and problems. It could even get significantly worse. And even for manufacturers like Zotac, the current situation is supposed to be threatening.
Manufacturers paint a grim picture for graphics cards
What does the situation look like? Zotac Korea has issued a strong warning regarding the consequences of the worsening memory shortage on its official online shop in Korea, Zotac Korea TagTag Mall. The manufacturer states that the current conditions “are so serious that they raise concerns about the survival of graphics card manufacturers and dealers in the future.”
The statement reads (via X.com):
The current situation is extremely serious – so serious that concerns regarding the continuity of graphics card manufacturers and dealers are emerging.
The supply of memory chips remains limited, and it has been announced that the supply of GPUs will also be reduced.
Furthermore, it is expected that several models will be unavailable for an extended period.
Personally, I am increasingly concerned that, apart from the GPUs produced by Samsung, stable supply in the future may no longer be possible.
Moreover, the prices we have recently received are at an unreasonable level.
Not only has the price for the RTX 5090 risen sharply, but the price increase for the 5060 is also significant.
Zotac makes it clear in its statement that prices will continue to rise and the materials for graphics cards will also now be reduced. Certain graphics cards have already been affected by price increases, while others will follow.
Moreover, the manufacturer warns that entire series of graphics cards could disappear from the shelves in the future: On the one hand, production would not be worth it, and on the other, prices would be so incredibly high that it would no longer be possible to demand reasonable prices from buyers. For gamers looking to buy a new graphics card, this shortage means further rising prices.
How long will the prices continue like this? The AI-induced boom in RAM and other components is expected, according to experts, to last throughout 2026. Some even anticipate high prices to continue into 2027. If you urgently need new hardware in 2026, you should expect to pay significantly more than in 2025.
Due to the high prices for hardware, some users are resorting to particularly brazen methods: They go into stores to disassemble and steal RAM from displayed computers. Sellers are reacting and taking precautionary measures. The community is astonished at how it has come to this: RAM has become so expensive that users are getting really brazen: They steal it directly from the computers in the store
