In the open beta of Battlefield 2042, you play on the Orbital map with a destructible space rocket that launches during the match. MeinMMO shows you how to destroy it and what fun the players are already having with it.
What kind of rocket is that? On the Orbital map, there is a large launch pad with a space rocket. This is part of the Levolution feature, which returns in Battlefield 2042.
What is that feature? Levolution refers to events that occur during a match. They can change the entire map and provide variety.
The rocket on the Orbital map launches during the match. However, it can be destroyed before it launches into orbit. If it happens, there is a gigantic explosion and the map is heavily damaged. We show you how to do it.
This is how you destroy the space rocket
To bring the rocket to explode, you need to pay attention to when the launch process begins. You can recognize it when the rocket spreads its arms.
From this point, you can damage the rocket and cause its destruction. However, you need to inflict enough damage. Alone, it will be difficult to bring the rocket to explode before launch.
How much time do you have for it? Once the launch sequence begins, you have 6 minutes to destroy the rocket. You can use any source of damage, whether firearms, air or vehicles. Explosives can also be useful.
However, if you succeed, there is a gigantic explosion that tears apart the launch pad and the surrounding area. Debris flies around and you need to be careful not to get hit.
You can see this in the video:
Players fight for the rocket and get flown over 1900 meters
What do the beta testers think of the rocket? They seem to be having a lot of fun. In the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, there are numerous clips of players causing mischief with the space rocket.
This clip went online on the first day of the early access phase, where a player actually managed to be blasted into space with the rocket. The player with the fitting name SirNukeBoy wrote: “Farewell, cruel world!”
Apparently, he had enough of the map and flew away with the rocket. However, at a certain height, it unfortunately ended for him, as you can see in this clip:
The player theCptQuinn seems to have made it his mission to destroy the rocket in every match. ONLY the rocket:
You can catch me in every game trying to blow up the rocket. I will not fight anyone except the rocket. Please do not disturb me.
He found his future nemesis in KolbyOnline1, who replied:
There is a new sheriff in town, and let me tell you one thing, kid. Under my watch, no rocket will be blown up. It is my sworn duty to protect the rocket at all costs. I will not fight anyone except those who fight the rocket. See you on the battlefield, loser!
However, the sheriff does not seem to have counted on the number of players wanting to blow up the rocket. At least, this quickly becomes clear under his post, with numerous kill reports from other users (via reddit.com).
Other players are already using the new grappling hook to be pulled into the air by the rocket. And that actually works, as SQUiD Gaming shows:
In fact, it seems to be a glitch, as the player is pulled over 1900 meters into the air, which is probably not intended.
In addition to the rocket, some players have already played around with C5 (the C4 from 2042) and revived a drone trick from various previous shooters – with deadly success.
What else is in the beta? In addition to the Orbital map, you can try the “Conquest” mode and play four of a total of 10 new specialists.
How long does the beta last? You have until October 10 at 9:00 AM to try out the beta. After that, the servers will go offline.
On which platforms can you play? The beta is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
We keep you updated with current information in our live ticker for the open beta.
How about you? Have you been able to play and blow up the rocket? What do you think of the beta so far? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments.
