Mortal Online is considered one of the hardest MMORPGs on the market. In October, the successor Mortal Online 2 is launching. The first testers have already called it the “best PvP game” they have ever played.
What kind of game is this? Mortal Online 2 is a sandbox MMORPG that places a strong emphasis on PvP. Essentially, you can do whatever you want in the world, including exploring or building. However, there is a risk of being killed by another player almost everywhere.
In the specific case of Mortal Online, this means that you also lose your equipment. This MMORPG has full loot. However, those who kill players without provocation will be branded as murderers. This has disadvantages, as at a certain point, town guards will attack you.
However, fights are supposed to be decided not by equipment or levels, but purely by your skill. The better fighter should win.
What does Mortal Online 2 offer?
- An action combat system in first-person perspective
- Melee and ranged combat and even magic and mounted combat are possible
- Progression through improving skills, instead of traditional levels
- A deep crafting system
- Free trade between players
- A completely open game world
- If you kill an opponent, you can take everything they own
Recently, there were some internal tests for the MMORPG and the closed beta is set to start in September, where you can participate via Steam.
In this video from YouTuber TheLazyPeon, you can get a first look at the new MMORPG:
Much positive feedback and over 40,000 testers
What do the first testers say? In the reddit for Mortal Online 2 and also in the MMORPG subreddit, there are several threads praising the new game. However, they emphasize that it primarily targets hardcore and PvP fans.
The user dandanmoo0 even calls it the best PvP game he has ever played. He justifies his opinion as follows (via reddit):
- The game is really hardcore. There are no minimaps or in-game aids.
- There are different types of guilds you can join: mercenaries, griefers, and city protectors. Each guild is supposed to significantly change the experience.
- Fights are said to be a lot of fun and spontaneous battles often develop, where 30v30 battles take place.
- The learning curve is extremely steep and it takes some time to get used to Mortal Online 2.
Other players in the thread praise the crafting system as very deep and highlight that players must trade with each other in towns instead of mindlessly shopping at a marketplace.
The player YouRock_No also praises the character editor, which offers 3 different races and settings for the ages of characters, as well as the detailed game world and the proximity chat, which allows you to communicate with players in the area (via reddit).
Furthermore, the performance is said to be significantly better than in its predecessor Mortal Online.

What problems does the game have? In addition to the positive remarks, there is also criticism of Mortal Online 2:
- Life as a solo player is said to be extremely difficult, as most players roam in groups and love to hunt solo players.
- Another point of criticism is the pricing policy. Mortal Online 2 is a buy-to-play title that also relies on a subscription. Players cannot test whether they like the game concept or not. Current packages cost between 40 and 150 euros.
- The entry into the game is said to be a disaster and basically offers no explanations.
Mortal Online 2 is also not aimed at the classic PvE or arena PvP player. The MMORPG is hardcore and makes no secret of it.
How many people have already been able to test Mortal Online 2? In a new trailer for the upcoming test in September, the developers announced that 40,000 players have already tried the MMORPG in previous tests (via YouTube). That’s a remarkable number.
However, how many of them view Mortal Online 2 positively or negatively is not known.
How does the game differ from its predecessor? Unlike the predecessor, Mortal Online 2 is not supposed to be quite as unfair. There are more safe zones where you cannot be attacked by other players. Additionally, being marked as a murderer ensures that players who kill others without provocation receive a penalty.
When will Mortal Online 2 be released? On October 26, Mortal Online 2 is set to start early access on Steam. From then on, there will be no wipes and you will keep your progress, although the collected equipment in the MMORPG is never safe.
